@LethalityJane I had to help one guy who was pre-selected for Intelligence branch in OCS study (his native language was Korean, so he basically got priority), but he was dumb as a sack of bricks. Kept getting busted for stupid crap, too, just not quite enough to get recycled.
@KelsieBrumet Haha, yeah, I spent part of my childhood homeless, and was dirt poor for the rest, and I still managed to scrape together enough drawing supplies to get at least one drawing in per day. I was obsessed, not privileged.
@Shaggnar @AllegedKurd Yeah, I remember my first unit was the first company level drone unit in the Army. They stood up a second a year or so later, so I’m a bit surprised they haven’t got to the squad level in the 12 years since. I could swear they had done that when it was still Intelligence Branch.
@AllegedKurd @Thermobaric_ To be fair, most Army instructors tend to treat students of any rank like privates (at least in my experience—though seeing an E6 smoke the sh!t out of an E7 in OCS was certainly a highlight).
@MyNamyIsAmy I feel your pain as a chocolate lover, but also I do love gorging myself on pickles, and have absolutely done so while cutting body fat. It’s a bit of a mixed bag, there.
@cpt_blondie Yeah, that kinda crap is totally unsat. I’d be a bit wary about my daughters joining due to that kind of culture, too, though thankfully I have at earliest 11 years before I have to worry about it. Hopefully it’s a bit better by then.
