Took 112 days to charge the club
2 day hearing
16 hours for verdict
19 days to publish decision
No one from EFL gave evidence at the hearing.
3/4 people from West Brom.
Strong statement π
"Grossly unfair"
112 days to charge the club, written reasons provided 6 days after season.
Confirmed acceptance then moved the goal posts π€
West Bromwich Albion acknowledges publication of the written reasons relating to the EFL Club Financial Review Panel (CFRP) decision to sanction the club with a two-point deduction during the 2025/26 season.
Full statement. π
An absurd outcome. So the EFL retrospectively changed their own rules regarding charitable donations after allowing them the year before? That alone results in a breach 2-point deduction? Surely an appeal will succeed (if necessary).
So Albion are deducted points:
-for making charitable donations to its community foundation
-based on a RETROSPECTIVE adjustment to its accounts AFTER the EFL changed the rules
-without being told how much they exceeded the limit
-with no published judgement
No words. #wba
This has been shambolic.
The lack of comms from The EFL, the timing when they had visibility of our accounts for months & even had us under their business plan & what weβve been punished for is ludicrous.
It hopefully wonβt matter but @EFL must be scrutinised regardless!

We have today parted company with Head Coach Tony Mowbray.
Assistant Head Coach Mark Venus has also departed.
The club would like to place on record its thanks to Tony and Mark for their efforts β but has made the decision to part company following a series of poor results.
In the 146-year history of West Bromwich Albion Football Club, 27 men have managed 60 or more matches. Carlos CorberΓ‘n has the best win rate (49.35%) of them all.
Did an unbelievable job in tough circumstances. π«‘
