There is absolutely no justification for lying to a child that it's possible to change sex. Any issues associated with a DSD (which is not what this case appears to be) are a medical one. There is not a single valid reason why clinicians should be promoting the idea children can and should pretend to be the opposite sex.

I agree Olivia. Cass has forgotten first principles and instead turned to the highly contested and highly inappropriate 'harm reduction' idea of the sexologists. This idea was brought about by adults rather than children to justify adult psychosexual issues. It's an adult deflection onto children which she seems to ignore.

We've been sounding the alarm for quite some time now to no avail. The next generation of trainees are also not getting adequate safeguarding training. This is not going to get better any time soon.

This is child abuse. No child is born in the wrong body. No child should be facilitated to pretend to be the opposite sex. If the @UKCP_Updates, @BACP and @BPSOfficial hadn't been censoring practitioners from their publications and conferences we could have explained why Cass is wrong here and why this is a child protection matter and NOT a clinical matter. Politicians absolutely must step in and intervene because these organisations are ideologically captured, hence why Cass is misinformed.

In the VAST majority of kids that are confused about their gender these kids have multiple other so called comorbitities, i.e. other psychiatric problems such as autism, depression and anxiety and not rarely have they been subjected to trauma such as sexual abuse. Why in the world would anyone not start there instead of automatically attempt transition when there is absolutely no scientific evidence that they are helped by it?

@roseveniceallan I'm surprised she's not wearing a rainbow lanyard. The boy she describes remains a boy and has been abused by his parents since birth. It should be a police matter, not a clinical matter. He does not have a gender, only a sex. There is no justification for this clinical trial.

What the parents have done to their son is unconscionable. They have destroyed his childhood in pursuit of an ideology.

He could not have understood to what he was "consenting," being far too young to understand what his sex let alone "gender identity" is.

The child does not need puberty blockers but to be removed from his cruel and abusive parents.

And Hilary Cass needs to do some reading up on child development. It is now clear that she believes that some children are born "trans". For a paediatric scientist, to publicly espouse that unevidenced belief, is beyond embarrassing.
