Faith is often seen for its faithfulness to a set of values and ideas behind us. But faith is tethered by an invisible line that is guiding us forward not holding us backwards. Humanity and culture are adapting and evolving, faith by its nature is ahead of us, not behind us.

@david_tough David I’m so saddened by your news. I walk the other jasper in the neighborhood, we see each other occasionally on our morning walks. Did William have a favorite tree in the neighborhood? My kids loved the one on Lloyd that looks like it’s on fire in October.

Faith offers us a compelling obligation in a divided world. Jesus inspires us that instead of choosing a side we can choose a way. The way he offers is not found in dogma but forged in love.

Suspending disbelief you read through the Birth story of Jesus. In the end you discover a story difficult to hold. It's both the problem and solution. This isn’t a story you're supposed to hold, it is a story that read right, holds us in the mystery of how God works in our lives.

If you think about it, Mary encounters two angels in the birth story recorded by Luke. One gives her the courage to head to the hill country in Judea, and the other to return home. Be amazed at the right parts of the story. #advent

Those struggling with addiction and trauma have shown me that the Gospel is not a microwaved dinner, but a shared table where the participants aren’t just consuming but being nourished. The gospel often has more teeth Monday to Friday, and is a pair of dentures on Sunday morning

The invitation of Jesus was to follow, not to arrive. Some have stopped where they met the Christ and never continued their transformation. If you follow Jesus—you end up where he is taking you!
