W11 minimum requirements only needs 4GB. Fan favorite Expedition 33 even recommends 16GB of RAM. Although it can run minimum 8GB. They keywords were “gaming” and “recommended” running Linux doesn’t magically lower the memory needed for an app. There’s less RAM overhead on the OS side on Linux v. windows but that isn’t going to magically decrease the RAM footprint an application needs.

The internet is full of “hate microslop” bots. It was a completely reasonable take. 16GB is all you need for gaming especially since most games minimum requirements for ram these days is 16gb. If you are building a gaming box then 16gb is fine. If ou want to do any multitasking like watching YT or discord while gaming you will need more. Additionally W11 bare minimum is still 8GB.

If you're not maxing out your games graphics settings then 8Gb is still fine. Not ideal but it'll still run. Running 60fps with max settings will require more than 8GB. I'd agree though, 12GB should be the baseline, maybe an 8gb for cheap esports cafe gpus or just to have a displayout.

@GawroskiT I didn’t even think it worked properly yet. How did you get gfx1201 recognized or are using using Linux? I tried the other night and there are only unofficially rocblas libraries that are saying they’re unoptimized.
