Firstly, there are certain roles that require a bachelor’s degree specifically in the relevant field, while an MSc is often considered an added advantage.

Secondly, when it comes to professional qualifications, there are usually exemptions based on one’s academic background. In many cases, master’s degree holders are exempted from some of the foundational or entry-level stages of a professional qualification.

For example, if we have two individuals with the same bachelor’s degree, and one proceeds directly into a professional qualification while the other pursues a master’s degree first, there is a strong possibility that they could both complete their professional qualification around the same time. The difference, however, is that the latter would have an MSc as an additional qualification.

Lastly, do you genuinely think CSCP is cheap? And who says you cannot pursue a master’s degree while studying for CSCP? Both can absolutely be pursued concurrently, depending on one’s capacity and schedule.

In fact, someone currently pursuing an MSc in Accounting may have a higher likelihood of performing exceptionally well in ICAN than someone who goes through the ICAN programme alone from the beginning, because the MSc provides additional academic exposure and a deeper understanding of accounting principles.
