Governor Radda Backs KP3A Statewide Tour, Vows Lasting Legacy for Future Generations

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has thrown his weight behind the Katsina State Progressive Political Party Alliance, KP3A, and pledged to build a lasting legacy through sustainable projects for future generations.

Governor Radda gave the assurance on Monday when he received the KP3A delegation, led by Hon. Musa Bature Bakori, at the Government House, Katsina. He also approved government support for the alliance’s planned statewide tour of the 34 Local Government Areas to sensitise citizens on the achievements of his administration.

Katsina Health Insurance Enrollment Rises by 64% in Three Years

In another strategic move to ensure inclusive healthcare delivery, yesterday, we flagged off the enrollment of 184,105 beneficiaries into the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) across Katsina State’s 361 political wards, marking another important step towards achieving Universal Health Coverage.

I am pleased to announce that enrollment in the Katsina State Health Insurance Scheme has increased from 355,000 beneficiaries in 2023 to 583,460 in 2026, representing a 64% growth in three years.

This progress reflects our sustained investment in expanding access to quality and affordable healthcare, particularly for vulnerable members of our society.

About 98% of state and local government employees are already enrolled in the scheme, while retirees, members of the Hisbah Corps, Katsina State Community Watch Corps and persons with disabilities continue to benefit from free health insurance provided by the state government.

To further protect our people from the burden of catastrophic out-of-pocket medical expenses, health insurance enrollment will now be mandatory for all government employment programmes in Katsina State. An Executive Memorandum will be issued to ensure full compliance across all MDAs.

Our efforts in healthcare financing and service delivery have earned Katsina national recognition, with KTSCHMA receiving the National Health Insurance Excellence Award in 2024 and 2025, while several states have visited to understudy our healthcare financing model.

I commend the leadership and staff of KTSCHMA for their dedication and professionalism. We will continue to strengthen healthcare financing, improve our facilities and expand access to quality healthcare until every resident of Katsina State is covered.

Universal Health Coverage is achievable, and we remain committed to making quality healthcare a right, not a privilege.

Zango LG: Making History, Delivering Quality Healthcare to Every Corner of Katsina

Today, we commissioned the first-ever General Hospital in Zango Local Government Area, fulfilling a long-standing aspiration of the people and taking another bold step toward bringing quality healthcare closer to every community in Katsina State.

This hospital, upgraded from a Comprehensive Health Centre, is equipped with modern facilities to provide quality secondary healthcare services, ensuring that residents no longer have to travel long distances to receive essential medical care.

Our administration remains committed to transforming the health sector. In the last three years, we have upgraded four health facilities to General Hospitals, renovated over 280 Primary and Comprehensive Healthcare Centres, modernized specialist hospitals, established a state-of-the-art dialysis centre, expanded residency training programmes, and recruited more than 1,000 healthcare professionals to strengthen service delivery.

I am also pleased to announce that Katsina State is set to establish its first pharmaceutical manufacturing centre to produce drugs and medical consumables locally, a major milestone that will improve the availability of essential medicines and create new economic opportunities.

Investing in healthcare also means investing in people. While our first batch of state-sponsored MBBS students continues their studies in Egypt and the second batch is in Ethiopia, we have approved the sponsorship of a third batch to Russia to train more medical doctors for our state.

These achievements reflect our determination to build a healthcare system that is accessible, affordable, and responsive to the needs of every citizen, regardless of where they live.

I appreciate the people of Zango for their support and urge everyone to protect this facility and work with our healthcare professionals to ensure it serves generations to come.

Katsina Commits N4bn to Nigeria for Women Scale-Up Programme

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has announced a N4bn commitment by the state government to support the Nigeria for Women Project Scale-Up (NFWP-SU), a World Bank-funded initiative designed to improve the livelihoods of women through economic empowerment, financial inclusion, skills development and access to community-based support networks.

The Governor made the disclosure during a fact-finding visit to Tudun Wada and Sabon Garin Kalgo communities in Daura Local Government Area. He explained that the programme is currently being implemented in Katsina, Daura and Funtua LGAs, with plans to expand it to all 34 local government areas of the state.

Governor Radda revealed that about 19,000 women in Daura LGA are expected to benefit through 760 affinity groups, each comprising 25 women. He noted that beneficiaries in the three pilot LGAs have collectively saved over N349m through the programme’s weekly contribution scheme, demonstrating the success of the initiative in promoting savings culture and economic self-reliance.

The Governor said the programme is helping women build sustainable sources of income, strengthen household finances and improve their overall well-being. He commended the beneficiaries for their commitment and discipline and assured them of continued government support. He also disclosed that future phases of the programme would incorporate men to broaden its socio-economic impact.

Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Aisha Aminu Malumfashi, briefed the Governor on the achievements recorded since the programme commenced and reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to ensuring its successful implementation.

The visit featured a practical demonstration of how women’s groups are formed and managed under the programme.

Another Promise Fulfilled

The commissioning of the Cassava/Gari Processing Centre in Batsari is particularly significant to me because it is a promise I made to the people during the 2023 election campaign, and today, by the grace of Allah, that promise has become a reality.

Yesterday, we commissioned the facility and renamed it the Dr. Abba Sayyadi Ruma Cassava/Gari Processing Centre in honour of the late former Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources, whose legacy of service and dedication to agricultural development remains an inspiration to us all.

This project represents our belief that agriculture must move beyond production to value addition. For too long, many of our farmers have been unable to fully benefit from their hard work due to inadequate processing facilities. This centre is designed to change that reality by providing modern processing services, reducing post-harvest losses, creating jobs and expanding economic opportunities for our people.

The facility will particularly empower women and young people, strengthen the cassava value chain, improve farmers’ incomes and stimulate rural enterprise development across Batsari and neighbouring communities.

As we continue to implement our Building Your Future agenda, we remain focused on projects that directly impact the lives of our citizens through economic empowerment, job creation and sustainable development.

I commend KASEDA and all stakeholders who contributed to the successful delivery of this important project. I also urge farmers, cooperatives, women groups and youth associations to make effective use of the facility and safeguard it for the benefit of future generations.

Governor Radda Seeks Stronger Partnership with Clerics to End Banditry

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has called on Islamic clerics to work closely with security agencies, traditional rulers and community leaders to strengthen the fight against banditry and other crimes across the state.

The governor made the call during a sensitisation programme and public lecture organised by the Katsina Scholars Forum for Community Advancement, led by Sheikh Munir Adam Koza.

Governor Radda said tackling insecurity requires the support of every member of society, especially religious leaders, whose words and guidance carry great influence among the people.

"Government has a responsibility to protect lives and property, but the people also have a responsibility to support that effort. We must all work together by exposing those who provide information, logistics and other forms of support to criminals," the governor said.

He recalled that when he assumed office, 23 out of the state's 34 local government areas were badly affected by banditry.

According to him, his administration responded by recruiting 2,500 members of the Katsina Community Watch Corps and providing them with the equipment needed to support the police, the military and other security agencies.
