New photos obtained exclusively by CBS News reveal for the first time the widespread damage and destruction of buildings and vehicles at multiple U.S. positions across the Middle East, as a result of Iranian missile and drone attacks. 🇨🇦 Some genuinely interesting signals coming out of the Canada Investment Summit in Toronto.

The headline isn’t simply “Canada is open for business.” It feels more like Canada is putting actual projects on the table and asking global capital: what will it take to get these built?

A few things that stand out so far:

🌎 More than 300 CEOs and global investment leaders representing roughly $120 TRILLION in assets are participating.

🏗️ Canada is presenting a pipeline of 150+ major projects across energy, critical minerals, AI, transportation, manufacturing and infrastructure, as part of the push to attract $1 trillion in investment over five years.

💰 TD has announced a C$150B five-year commitment through lending, underwriting and advisory services focused on energy, critical minerals, defence and aerospace, AI/digital infrastructure and transportation.

⚡ Provinces are arriving with real projects. Ontario alone is pitching 15 major opportunities across energy, transmission, mining, AI and advanced manufacturing.

🧾 Ottawa is also tackling something less flashy but potentially very important: investments of C$1B+ can now receive expedited CRA advance tax rulings. For investors considering multibillion-dollar projects, reducing tax uncertainty BEFORE committing capital matters.

🌍 And look at who is showing up: investors from Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Australia. Kuwait, Qatar, Singapore, Japan, Norway, the Netherlands, Malaysia and others.

That diversification piece may ultimately be the biggest story.

Canada isn’t walking away from the United States. Geography and deeply integrated supply chains make that impossible and undesirable.

But in a world where access to the U.S. market has become less predictable, Canada would be foolish not to aggressively compete for European, Asian, Middle Eastern and global capital.

Carney’s pitch is essentially:

We have energy.
We have critical minerals.
We have AI and technology.
We have talent.
We have capital.
We have access to major global markets.
And increasingly important in 2026, we offer institutional stability and predictability.

⚠️ One important reality check: $120T represented in the room is NOT $120T being invested in Canada, and financing commitments are not the same thing as shovels in the ground.

The real scorecard comes over the next 12–18 months:
How many projects reach financial close?
How quickly do permits get issued?
How much private capital actually gets deployed?
How many projects actually get BUILT?
But as an opening signal, this is significant.
Canada spent years talking about attracting investment.
Now we need to turn the conversation into execution. 🇨🇦🏗️⚡
