Ten QBs in NFL history have won multiple MVP awards
Lamar Jackson is the only one with a losing record in the playoffs (3-5) and the only one without a Super Bowl Championship
Career in playoffs:
Lamar Jackson: 12 total TD, 11 turnovers
Josh Allen: 30 total TD, 6 turnovers
Pat Mahomes: 47 total TD, 9 turnovers
There are legitimate reasons for narratives. Two more quarters from one narrative ratcheting up.
I truly don't understand how the Lamar discourse breaks so many people's brains.
We have @billbarnwell, who I truly believe has been the single smartest person covering the NFL for more than a decade, earnestly arguing that Lamar & Mahomes' *playoff numbers* over the last two years are "basically identical" and acting as if the Zay Flowers fumble (which happened with them down 10 points, and was immediately followed by an egregious Lamar INT in the end zone, with them also down 10 points) and a Mark Andrews drop (which would have simply tied the game, and their BEST CASE scenario was stopping the Bills from getting a FG with 2 TOs & 1:33 AND THEN winning in OT) are why folks are criticizing Lamar.
That's not it! It's that in the regular season he IS the guy you guys say he is... one of the greatest players of all time!
And then EVERY YEAR in the postseason, he has one of, if not his very worst game of the year!
'18: Lamar has multiple TOs, BAL has 3 points with 7 mins left, finishes with season low 17
'19: Lamar has multiple TOs, BAL has 6 points heading into 4th Q, finishes with season low 12
'20: Lamar throws a 100yd Pick 6 while trailing 7, finishes with a season low 3 points
'23: Lamar has multiple TOs, BAL has 7 points with 3 minutes left, finishes with season low 10
'24: Lamar has multiple TOs for the first time all year.
Obviously, yesterday was not as bad as the previous 4 playoff losses, but when a player's team scores the fewest points it has all year in 4 of 5 playoff losses, and when a player, who has multiple turnovers in less than 15% of his career regular season games, has multiple turnovers in HALF of his career playoff games, it's not a coincidence!
This was a bad drop by Mark Andrews but let’s not pretend Lamar gave him a perfect ball to catch.
That pass was at his knees as he was falling backwards into the corner of the endzone.
𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚: #Steelers QB Justin Fields says he’s “grown a lot” over this past year, he told @PennLive after the win yesterday.
“I’ve grown a lot over the past year, the past few months so I’m definitely feeling a lot more confident when I’m out on the field. It means a lot, but at the end of the day it’s not just me winning games. I’m just happy to be a part of this team, this organization.“
Absolutely wild: #NFL kickers are currently 35/37 on 50+ yard field goals this season…
The only two missed attempts have BOTH come from #Ravens kicker Justin Tucker.
More good 49ers news: Pro-Bowl RB Christian McCaffrey, who missed most of training camp with a strained calf, is expected to return to practice today, per source.
