In California, nearly 900,000 homes are currently without electricity due to strong winds from an atmospheric river event.

The state has issued a state of emergency, anticipating wind gusts over 60 mph along the coast and between 80-100 mph in the coastal mountain regions.

There's also a significant risk of flooding, especially on the southern slopes of the mountains in Southern California, and the storm might cause large waves along the coast.
