Sir Alan Bates tells this programme that victims of the post office scandal are still being failed by the government scheme set up to compensate them.

He says only half of the compensation claims of the original group have been settled.

Britain's oldest victim of the post office scandal, 92 year old Betty Brown is still fighting for compensation and was in parliament yesterday urging ministers to act while there's still time.

'It's absolutely disgusting the way we've been treated.'

#PostOfficeScandal Today the @PostOffInquiry starts the 2 day hearings of oral submissions of core participants into the widest miscarriage of justice in British Legal History. Yesterday I tweeted about ending the week on good news with the story of Noel Thomas receiving full compensation from the @PostOffice

However today the inquiry started with a statement from Chair Sir Wyn Williams of yet another sad passing of a former Postmistress Mrs Margaret Boston from Brex in Rotherham. Time and time again we start these hearings with news of people passing away before those responsible have been held to account and that everyone has received the full and fair compensation they are due.
