The only thing I really got out of this was that I'd love to see a 7th Doctor UNIT era (similar to 3), but instead of scientific advisor he takes on a more Brigadier role & sends his companions on missions like this. It's a fun dynamic that I think only works with his incarnation
@jae_writes_ It's a pretty simple matter of whether you care for the narrative intent of the arc and can just ignore literally everything else about the character not making sense. I for one would rather try and harmonize her to make more sense in continuity than care about a lackluster arc.
I still head-canon that Davros turns into the Dalek Emperor we eventually see in the Time Lord Victorious event before being usurped by the true Dalek Emperor when the Time War came around. But yes it will never make sense to me how Big Finish just largely ignores this story.
Terror Firma...
It's phenomenal on its own. Absolutely harrowing, but in context? The wider context of all who I mean, can it really work? Destroying the Earth so decisively. How can this fit?
I'm excited for this one. Kinda feels lacking tho without the main two of The Doctor & Amy. I'm excited to see their dynamic a bit more especially due to how little they were able to interact in the show proper.

@starwarsteen678 Yeah it does feel like they constantly keep teasing it, but so far (I haven't listened to the lastest set yet) they have done nothing to actually attempt to resolve it tho. Honestly I'd rather them just leave her erased as an ambiguous tragic ending that parallels her intro story
@Tales_TimeLord That I gotta disagree with you, but to each their own. I like a mix of it feeling new and old. I think the beauty of Doctor Who and Big Finish is that it has such a variety for everyone.
Got around to this & it was okay None of the characters really pulled me in. I like the setting & themes, especially when the Doctor's gender is acknowledged. The alien was too conceptual where I couldn't tell you how it was defeated. Interesting premises that don't come together
@Tales_TimeLord Well Rochana Patel is one of the best modern Big Finish writers so I wasn't surprised that Ride or Die was good. I'm looking forward to the new one coming out with the Ice Warriors as well. But BF definitely has a 'house style' that very rarely feels like the show proper.
@Tales_TimeLord To me I think it was just too conceptual without a solid plotting out of the story. It seems like they had the themes & setting in mind from the beginning, but just didn't have the characters & central plot well defined. Leading to some good ideas, but a bland overall result.
@Tales_TimeLord Yeah 100% agree. This was my experience as well. Nothing inherently bad about it, just nothing that I latched onto. It also felt like the Tourist subplot was shoehorned in out of nowhere to the point where I had to rewind. Just an alright adventure.
Also based on the reaction on here I thought the 'kiss' was going to be a bit more substantial, but it basically happens with no acknowledgement and the Doctor isn't even aware it happened at all. These shippers are really grasping for anything.
@dcrowleyprod Yeah lol I gotta say I was reminded of the Leela set a bit during it. That being said now that I think about it the two do kinda show off how the 4th Doctor's relationship with the Brigadier evolved when juxtaposed.
I really like that this acts like a true 4th Doctor era UNIT story that we never really got. The part with the Brigadier being nostalgic is cute & I like the dynamics of this quartet. However the plot is unforgivably dull & the villains aren't interesting in the slightest.
So not Early 8th Doctor as I expected. Honestly I'm mostly interested to see how this is an anniversary set compared to the others we've had recently. It seems like less of a celebration of his era and moreso just a new starting point for the future, which should be a good thing.

At the end of the day, I think I would have still preferred the original ending and a third season with 15 to explore him finally meeting Susan, but I'm kinda glad she is currently untainted so I can keep her meeting the 8th in the audios as their canon reunion.
I do love how much Susan was mentioned over the course of the 2 seasons & would have absolutely loved 15 being the one who finally meets her as it fits his arc so well. I don't even hate this idea, but Poppy being Susan's mom is so dumb to me. The idea doesn't need an explanation
Wow, remember in Legend of Ruby Sunday, the Doctor says he's not had a child . . yet
This was RTD dropping seeds that Poppy, his child yet-to-be, will become Susans mum
Would you REALLY have preferred that original ending.
That Poppy from Space Babies is Susan Foremans mum?
I was watching this with my mother (who decided to watch 15's whole era with me) and when he said that line it hit me like a truck and I yelled. My mother was like 'What happened what's wrong' and I couldn't bear to tell her before it actually happened. Just utter disappointment.
Missed opportunity in this scene to have Yana point at Martha instead of Jack before the Doctor and then have her be like 'Umm well technically I am as well'.

I'm hoping we'll see the 2nd Rani continue to be the 'Classic' Rani running into the Classic Doctors and then hopefully they can get Anita Dobson to do a boxset, maybe have her meet a New Who Doctor that would be fun.
I really wonder what the Rani's future at Big Finish is post-Fear of the Light. Assuming her rights aren't hard to wrangle now, we've now got three incarnations with living actresses and her most recent appearance leaves things in an interesting place for her.
