“It’s been 8 months since I last saw you in Barbados. Since then... New Zealand, the Ashes, the World Cup, the IPL, a Test series, and now a white ball series against India straight afterwards." 

It amazes me how quickly people are willing to criticise @JofraArcher. But it also makes me wonder how many people are looking at the full picture. 

In this year's IPL, he played 16 matches, bowled 66.3 overs and finished as @rajasthanroyals leading wicket-taker. 

Then, just days later, he stepped into Test cricket, bowled the fastest first over in any Test match in England. On top of that, bowled 75.5 overs in only two Test matches over 11 days, finishing as @englandcricket’s Player of the Series. 

Just think about that for a second. 

He bowled more overs in 11 days of Test cricket than he did across two months of IPL. 

During the World Cup earlier this year, Jof did an interview with @CRBrathwaite26 and @NikUttam where he said: 

"If anyone can stand in the field for three days and still bowl 90mph, I want to go to their school." 

I sent him that clip afterwards because I couldn't help but remind him that he had just spent four days in the field during the Oval Test, in extreme heat, and was still hitting 90mph on Day 4 😳 

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. But if you're prepared to criticise, be equally prepared to acknowledge performances like this when they're deserved. 

And for those who point to his pay cheque 🤦🏾‍♂️... 

Elite sport isn't simply about overs bowled or balls delivered. 

Jofra Archer is an X-factor. 

He fills stadiums. 

He captures attention. 

He changes games. 

That is exactly why players like him are valued the way they are. 

This isn't a rant. It's simply some appreciation for someone who continues to put his body on the line, takes on enormous workloads across formats, and keeps showing up whenever his team asks him to.
