@jwalkermobile I'll be very interested to see how you fair with the S.A cookbook James. It's such a varied cuisine from bunny chow to whole lamb braais. My personal favourite is stanribb a whole lamb rib cooked on its end over a wood fire. You really should visit the wine is amazing too.
@julianrademeyer@Channel4News Interestingly, Julian he had no legal representation in court as he expected someone from his family to have organised it. Apparently they did not despite it being widely known he was arriving.
@jwalkermobile@DavidMarra Just based on recent experiences I can highly recommend Mister S and Liath. I was also in Variety Jones recently 90% was perfect but they served me Thornhill duck it's a mass produced inferior product, when I raised this point I was dismissed.
@meathead It drives me insane when people do not remove the wishbone from a bird prior to cooking. It makes removal of the breast fully soooo much easier. It's just wasteful.
@jwalkermobile Depending on the species and "thickness" I generally pull most fish around 48°C. Obviously on or off the bone has a large deciding factor too.
@Killybegsgirl How could anyone dislike red mullet? It's like a cross between fish and shellfish. It does need to be super fresh or dry aged though. It makes excellent crudo or ceviche.
@gregsherwoodmw@Winemag I thought so Greg , I tasted some lovely cab franc in Spookfontein but I heard they have subsequently removed the vines. The wines of Bosman were also a surprise find including a Nero D'Avlo which was unusual.
Thanks everyone for the feedback. Mad to think the exact same bottle can be the same price in a shop as a restaurant. However the same bottle can be €300 more in a different restaurant.
@DavidMarra@jwalkermobile@gregsherwoodmw@Masterofwhine Hi folks, just want to confirm something last night at dinner I was perusing the wine list. I scanned right down to the bottom and spotted a San Guido "Sassicaia" Bolgheri 2014 for €450 ... this is insane value yes ?
I conducted a quick search and another establishment has it priced at €770. I also found it for sale in a wine shop at the same price as the restaurant. Something doesn't add up in my book. Thanks
@meathead Ehhh !ALL the South African's are about to say we've been cooking that way for centuries. Only on wood...Only on embers...always hardwood particularly Kameldooring.
@Masterofwhine Northern Spain is incredible this is a bill from a recent weekend in Santander. In a top class seafood restaurant the most expensive white on the list was €22 so naturally I got it and it was beautiful.
