Today's ongoing ICE protest at the Whipple Building included what Jake Lang promoted as a "press conference" at noon. Instead, he and a small group drove through in a rented U-Haul, with Lang and a few others standing in the back with the door open, holding a wooden cross.

While presenting themselves in religious imagery, people in the truck fired pepper balls toward protesters and sprayed mace into the crowd. The contrast was hard to miss: waving a cross while using chemical irritants on people exercising their right to protest.

Their sad attempt to "crusade" lasted less than 5 minutes, but we're fairly certain not lasting long is familiar territory.

Around the site, protesters also carried out what some dubbed "Operation Dildo Blitz," with sex toys hung along the chain-link fence and thrown into the street. Several were tossed toward officers, and others landed near passing vehicles.

Later in the afternoon, the gathering was declared an unlawful assembly, and arrests were made.
