The Boundary Waters is America’s most-visited Wilderness. The case for repealing its protections doesn’t hold up to a single factual question. This is foreign corporate interest poorly dressed up as American patriotism.
Here’s how pieces of shit like @RepPeteStauber justified it and how truly stupid/not America first this decision is:
🗣️“This is about American national security and reducing reliance on China.”
Reality: Twin Metals ore has contracts to be shipped to Chinese smelters for processing and sold on the global market. The U.S. gets the pollution risk. China gets the refined metal. It literally strengthens Chinese processing dominance. China first baby 😮💨
🗣️“This mine will bring desperately needed jobs to northeastern Minnesota.”
Reality: Twin Metals projects 750 direct jobs. The existing Boundary Waters tourism economy already supports 17,000 jobs and $1.1B annually — all at risk from pollution. Even Harvard economists found protection produces up to 4,500 more jobs and $900M more income over 20 years than mining would 🤤
🗣️“The mine isn’t inside the Boundary Waters, so it won’t affect it.”
Reality: The mine sits less than a mile away in the same watershed. Water flows north directly into the Wilderness. Pollution doesn’t stop at a legal boundary - it flows downstream into Voyageurs National Park and Canada’s Quetico Park 🥴
🗣️“Modern mining technology means this can be done safely.”
Reality: Every single U.S. copper sulfide mine studied (100%!) has experienced spills or accidental releases. 92% caused significant water contamination. This type of acid mine drainage can persist for centuries and can’t be remediated. Twin Metals’ own chief regulatory officer could not promise the mine wouldn’t pollute 🙄
🗣️“This is about what’s best for Minnesota and America.”
Reality: 70% of Minnesotans oppose copper mining near the Boundary Waters. 98% of 675,000 public comments supported the mining ban. Even 56% of constituents in Rep. Stauber’s own district — the one he claims to represent — oppose it. The mining company is Chilean. The profits are foreign. The damage is American 😑
🗣️“This just opens the door to the permitting process — it doesn’t approve mining.”
Reality: It also permanently bars any future administration from reinstating similar protections without new congressional authorization. It sets a precedent allowing Congress to strip protections from any of our beautiful public land in America and sell out to more foreign lobbyists 😡
The U.S. Senate passed a House Joint Resolution (H.J. Res 140) in a 50–49 vote to overturn a 20-year ban on mining near the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.
This legislation removes protections for roughly 250,000 acres in the Superior National Forest, allowing the development of potential copper-sulfide mining in the watershed.
Buddy….
First, Twin Metals ore has contracts to be shipped to Chinese smelters for processing and sold on the global market. It literally strengthens Chinese processing dominance.
Second, Every single U.S. copper sulfide mine studied — 100% — has experienced spills or accidental releases. 92% caused significant water contamination.
And if you want to talk economics, Harvard economists already studied this and found that protection produces up to 4,500 more jobs and $900M more income over 20 years than mining would.
Selling out OUR LANDS and OUR RESOURCES to foreign companies isn’t America First.
Don’t listen to this clown. His argument to sell out America’s beautiful public lands to foreign companies is not America First and even his best arguments for doing this don’t make sense economically.

Khamenei was just a young ayatollah. If they would have just given him a few more years to develop with the weapons he had around him he could have been an elite franchise ayatollah

Mick Cronin is so damn funny. His anger knows no limit. “Are you raising your voice at me?” As the guy calmly responds. What a psycho. He’s perfect for CBB
