Got blown up a while ago, been putting myself back together ever since. It's been a fun journey; wouldn't change it for the world. Husband, Father, Gamer.
@sairaspooks Burger King added an Impossible Burger to their menu if I recall correctly. Cool. Vegan representation. No one cared.
If they started REPLACING core menu items with Impossible Burgers, people wouldn’t buy their burgers.
I hope you can understand the analogy.
We don’t care about the games “industry” we care about good games. If the industry is failing to provide good games, then closing bad studios and making room for good studios is a good thing.
Why do people hold “The Games Industry” in such a sacrosanct regard? As if they can do no wrong?
They are a producer. We are consumers. If they produce bad products, people won’t consume them. That is the nature of EVERY producer/consumer relationship.
If Ford starts making bad cars and no one buys their vehicles anymore, will anyone really care if they have to close up shop and are replaced by a company that makes quality cars at affordable prices? I doubt it.
If McDonalds radically changed their menu and sales plummeted, would fast food consumers cry about the demise of McDonalds if it meant a competitor could emerge and take over that market share, especially if they had better burgers and better prices? I doubt it.
If ANY industry fails to provide what consumers want, they’re going to fail. Video games are no different.
Don’t mourn BioWare. Get excited over what will take their place.
@BurkeBlack They started putting content in games people didn’t enjoy. People stopped paying for games they didn’t enjoy. Lack of sales lead to the company failing.
It’s not any more complicated than that.
Okay, let’s make an analogy:
Imagine a bunch of activists vegans take over a McDonalds and replace all the burgers with Impossible Burgers. All the other vegans, of which there are not many, loudly celebrate.
The shareholders who own McDonalds barely care or notice. McDonalds is a golden goose; all it doesn’t make money. On paper, the change makes sense: vegan burgers allow MORE people to spend their money at McDonalds.
Regular people stop buying burgers at McDonalds.
McDonalds closes due to lack of sales.
The vegans can’t figure out why it happened and think it’s because the average burger enjoyer hates them and that that hate comes
from a place of ignorance.
We just don’t want to eat your shitty burgers.
When their job was to ruin a thing I liked, of course I’m going to be happy they lost their job. That’s perfectly normal behavior.
This company was one way. We liked it.
They came and made it a different way.
They’re gone. We’re happy.
Not “weirdo” at all. In fact, having compassion for a group of activists who ruined a hobby millions enjoyed over the millions who had their hobby enjoyed is a little out of touch.
@bakhita_esther Is this bait? The kids may pay the price but it’s the mother who ran up the debt and handed them the bill. This wasn’t a family, it was a lie.
@Dom_Sacco No kidding. Four weeks?? With my schedule and availability to play I’ll be like level 38. They can’t loose sight that the streamers are the top 0.1% and the beta testers are maybe the top 5% - don’t balance the game around people who can play several hours per day.
@CCkun91 Empathy is what makes me far right. I have empathy for the victims of crime, not the perpetrators of it. I have empathy for the taxpayer, not the welfare recipient. I have empathy for the children of the founders of this nation, not the migrants who came to abuse our generosity.
@CyberRuthenia There are for more important metrics for the health of a country than GDP. A France full a Frenchmen without a lot to piss in is a happier, healthier, safer France than a rich France full of Africans and no Frenchmen.
@JDVance You could prevent this in America but you’re afraid of people calling you mean. Apparently you’re content with history remembering you as a coward.
And it’s immoral. Involuntary charity is theft. If you want a program like that there must also be some sacrifices from the people receiving the help, like losing the ability to vote. Kind of a “beggars can’t be choosers” principle.
But because they CAN vote, a dynamic has developed where State buys votes from the net negative people by stealing from the net positive people.
If the net negative people weren’t allowed to vote they’d still get the minimum help they need but it wouldn’t spiral out of control because the State would also be forced to give fair consideration to the needs of the net positive population.
