@RachelReevesMP Blair and Brown used cheap credit as a means of allowing us to think we were wealthier than we were.
And that pretty much helped trigger the worst financial crisis we’ve seen in my lifetime and pushed so many people into bankruptcy.
@RachelReevesMP It’s got worse since then (because wages have stagnated whilst house prices continue to rise) but stop pretending that Labour weren’t also part of the problem.
@Jim_Jordan I’m no expert, given I don’t live in the US, but isn’t Congress meant to legislate on these issues? And aren’t the Republicans the majority party in the first legislative body? And didn’t you guys finish up early and go on holiday or three weeks?
@Keir_Starmer What number of woman and children did it need to get to before you found it ‘intolerable’? What Hamas did was unforgivable but this US/UK-sanctioned revenge war was never going to do anything other than leave 10s if not 100s of thousands of Gazans dead.
@comiXology You really don’t want me buying comics do you? The app worked well and then you made it rubbish, but I could still buy weekly books and now you’re taking that away. The comic store on Amazon is hard to find and not very good.
@scottcrussell @totalfilm If you’ve totally given up, probably not. It’s not only a Captain Marvel sequel, it’s also a Ms Marvel sequel and a Wandavision spin-off (kinda).
@cenkuygur As someone watching from a far, who’d the Dem establishment replace him with if he actually stood down? They’re never going to vote in a genuine progressive. That goes against their centrist core (that they are relatively comfortable in given the Republican lurch further right).
@mgshanks But this is just a by-election! The Tories will still have the same majority they had. Any promises made are entirely futile. Until there’s a general election, nothings going to change.
@jackiebmsp@ScottishLabour With @UKLabour adopting every Conservative policy but just saying ‘they’ll do it better’, where is the fresh start? There’s absolutely nothing revolutionary about Labour’s offering and I hope the electorate in the by-election realise that.
@atrupar As with other western economies, decades of failure to address the growing wealth gap opens the doors to people like Trump.
In the UK, it was Brexit and Boris.
The symptoms and rhetoric is practically identical.
@EunisJassemi@mgshanks@ScottishLabour The sad truth is that the Tories will still be in government so it doesn’t really matter who gets elected. However, with Labour policy largely being on par with Cameron’s Tories, the SNP will fight more for the changes required for the people in this constituency.
@NeilMackay Convinced that the anti-Green rhetoric within ‘traditional’ SNP will drive a lot of folk who have voted SNP since 2014 to Green. We’re basically going to lose the youth vote because of soft ‘c’ conservatism within the party.
@MoreGamesPls Recently signed up for 3 free months with Apple+ and have enjoyed Severance, The AfterParty and Schmigadoon!.
Only Murders In The Building is also a top watch (on Disney+).
@RonFilipkowski When the PRA is explained to the jury, that all Presidential records belong to the state and that he had no right to hold on to them, what’s his defence?
@SpeakerMcCarthy All the investigations started long before Trump announced he was running. Are you saying that they should have all stopped as soon as he did that? Are you saying that any American can be immune from prosecution if they run for political office before (or after) being charged?
