@Photos2Print I was pleased with this a few days ago in Ampudia #Spain showing the yellow throat patch and barred under-tail coverts. A much under rated bird but I think you need good views to appreciate it
Great to see a Hoopoe yesterday in the paddock at Lynn Point #KingsLynn#Norfolk - a very nice addition to my 10K patch list after adding Common Redstart the day before at Roydon Common
A gorgeous Grey Partridge on the track as I left Lynn Point at dusk yesterday - quickly took some footage in the headlights and then let it be #KingsLynn#Norfolk
At Lynn Point yesterday I walked 5 miles (round trip) to check a distant mixed flock of Dark-bellied Brents & Pinks - my reward was a Pale-bellied Brent. Back near the car park c.30 Corn Buntings were mobile around the salt marsh and then nearby a Jack Snipe #Norfolk
I wasnโt expecting to find this Corn Bunting at Boal Quay in #KingsLynn this afternoon - a great bird within 5km of home. So far this year in west #Norfolk Iโve seen flocks of 23 and 34 at two separate locations
#PatchBirding 2025
173 species within 10km of home
132 species within 5km
143 species at Lynn Point
625 checklists @Team_eBird
Of note - Lesser Yellowlegs, Dotterel, Red-necked Grebe, Scaup, Long-tailed Ducks, Shag, Bewickโs, Cranes, Tundra Beans, RWFโs, breeding Spoonbills!
A very good morningโs birding with @RIAllison62 & @Gyr500 along the north Norfolk coastline - Eastern Black Redstart showed well at Sheringham; a flurry of Snow Buntings at Cley plus Slav Grebe & GND (all NFY!!) - then c.100 RWFโs at Holkham followed by the Brancaster BTD ๐
I was back at Lynn Point #Norfolk this afternoon where I was re-acquainted with the elusive Lesser White-fronted Goose (I prefer of โunknown originโ per BBRC and not โescapeโ per RBA). It was apt after talking all things goose earlier in the day with @JamesRMcCallum1
In the fading light of yesterday afternoon some more patch gold at the Wootton Grange Flood Lagoon #KingsLynn - a relatively close Red-necked Grebe #Norfolk
The Lesser White-fronted Goose in #KingsLynn showed better this morning but still not great pics due to distance and dull conditions - much easier to find in amongst only c.100 Pink-feet in the field opposite Bespak off Edward Benefer Way #Norfolk
The Kingโs Lynn Lesser White-fronted Goose I found last December has returned - in amongst c.3000 Pink-footed Geese (including a leucistic bird) this morning - some poor record shots #Norfolk
Short-eared Owl at Lynn Point #Norfolk this afternoon - unusually close and my first there since March. The Lesser Yellowlegs I found at South Wootton #KingsLynn on the 1st of this month wasnโt seen today so fittingly I was probably the last person to see it late yesterday
Iโve had an excellent 3 days birding within 10km of home, most certainly topped off by finding this Lesser Yellowlegs this morning on the Wootton Grange Flood Lagoon #KingsLynn
Other highlights were a Little Stint, 2 Spotted Redshank and 7 Spoonbills at Lynn Point
I was happy with my views of Black-winged Kite at Hickling @NorfolkWT yesterday morning considering the viewing distance and dipping twice in โ23. The third pic shows a bird I came across in March โ24 in SW France - very smart birds! Thanks to all the friendly/helpful staff ๐
A tale of 2 Red-backed Shrikes in NW Norfolk yesterday - the @RSPBTitchwell bird, a good find for @Christo1219 , showed much better for me than the Thornham bird. My only previous RBS at Titchwell was May 1985! #Norfolk
Found a Shag early this afternoon a couple of miles from home at Wiggenhall Bridge (where in Dec โ21 I saw my last one), my 130th species this year in the 5K patch Unfortunately it appeared unwell but had managed to move on by early evening #NorfolkBirding
