@BHGreens At 40% B&H's figure is double the national figure ... have our policies to get people to walk, bus and cycle failed particularly spectacularly?
After a lengthy, but understandable covid delay, ESCC are now progressing the A259 MRN Project to Stakeholder stage. As a recognised Stakeholder, the A259 Action Group have been invited to participate and will feed back to all 17,000 of you who supported The Big Petition

TomTom spokesperson says "policymakers can make real improvements now by using all the tools available to them to analyse traffic levels and impacts, so they can make better infrastructural decisions.”
Given B&HCC's commitment to carbon neutrality, why was Air Quality not fully assessed for Valley Gardens project? There is also a "journey time disbenefit" of £17,000,000. This is massive and implies even more substantial congestion/delays to all vehicles including buses on A259

@NewhavenMarine MRN is Major Road Network. It gives potential access to significant central government funding, but only if the Regional Evidence Base (REB) is robust. This is what makes the Big Petition so critical. The REB is not robust and access to funds would be denied.
ESCC submitted pre-Strategic Outline Business Case to Transport for S.E. in May for this section of A259 being a potential MRN scheme for 2023-2025. It has been identified as a Top 10 priority scheme and will be submitted as such to Department for Transport at the end of the July
Comments from RPC re LDC Local Plan Pt 2..... "this coastal route already constrains economic activity, constrains the requirement for public service infrastructure, as well as affecting the productivity and health of several south coast populations."

Thank you all for your support so far.
17,000 residents signed The Big Petition, yet senior B&HCC officers appear reluctant to embrace the positive outcome & join the meeting with ESCC. Major A259 central funding is at risk.
UPDATE: We've contacted ESCC to remind them of their commitment to engage with A259 Action Group this Spring. We'll keep you updated. Thanks for your continued support. With A259 now being a MRN, ESCC, BHCC & WSCC are keen to bid for a share of extensive central funding for A259
