I strongly agree with what Ant said.
Most people in the community are still the same as in 2024, just waiting for Elon to mention it again. Some believe he will definitely bring it up, while others think that a SpaceX IPO will naturally bring media exposure. Because they believe.
But in reality, back in 2024, we didn’t just wait. We did many different things. We followed Liv’s ideas, helped St. Jude, and I personally kept taking the Asteroid plushie to many places, because I believe that cute plush toy can touch the hearts of many people.
A meme is a meme because it’s a story that the general public can easily understand and has strong virality. Just like PEPE, it’s a culture, a pure frog that has nothing else, returning to simplicity.
So what is Asteroid? After more than a month, I think this is a question that every Asteroid supporter needs to think about.
I believe Asteroid represents space, and it also represents dreams. When people see the SpaceX mascot, they’ll say, “Wow, what a cute space Shiba Inu. SpaceX is awesome, this is the future of humanity.”
When people ask how this little Shiba Inu came about, they’ll learn about a brave little girl named Liv. She wanted people to see their dream, so she went out to help others.
This then brings us back to charity. I’ve watched people in the community spend the past month arguing whether @rebeccaperrotto’s Liv Foundation is better or @StJude hospital is better.
To me, the best outcome is if they can cooperate with each other. That way, they can make the biggest impact in helping children with cancer.
A good meme should bring positive value to the web2 world. I’ve always believed in Vitalik’s words. As for how to do it, that’s something every member of the community should think about.
The Asteroid community has never had a real team. People come and go, and it’s all volunteers helping out. This is a decentralized community, no one can control anyone else or force others to do anything.
The reality is, without a proper team, no one knows who’s behind the token’s direction. That means even if you’re seriously pushing things forward, the price may go against you, and it’s very easy to feel powerless.
So if you don’t truly love Asteroid, you won’t be able to persist for long. You must genuinely want Asteroid to be known by more people.
You must truly enjoy doing charity and helping others, not just chasing money. Only then can you possibly last.
