It has announced the cancellation of bookings at short notice amid talk that it is being taken over by the Home Office to house migrants

A member of staff at the hotel said that nearly a thousand bookings and Christmas parties had been cancelled in the coming months to accommodate the proposal

The member of staff, who did not wish to be named, said the hotel is set to close from Monday

As many as 45 jobs could be lost

The staff member added that he was ‘worried’ for colleagues who stand to lose their jobs. "They’ve asked us to cancel all the bookings
