He had ideas for stuff after but that didn’t involve the original trilogy, he also didn’t commit to making them so you can’t say he didn’t finish the story himself. Then Disney ruined everything.

Why is this an unbelievable concept to you? Everything is just based and estimated on similar animals we have today, birds trace back to dinosaurs and have mating styles and sounds they do. Names are literally just Greek or Latin roots of anatomy that the Dino has or location it was found, like triceratops means three horns, Utah raptor found in Utah.
