2023 (Post-Inauguration)
June 10, 2023 (Niger State): Just weeks after the inauguration, roughly 120 bandits riding motorcycles stormed two villages in Niger State, killing 55 people and kidnapping dozens.

July 25, 2023 (Zamfara State): Bandits killed 34 people in the Maru LGA, including an ambush that killed seven Nigerian soldiers trying to defend the community.

August 13–15, 2023 (Niger State): Bandits ambushed security forces, killing 23 soldiers. An evacuation helicopter sent to rescue survivors was shot down by the bandits, killing 13 more military personnel.

November 24, 2023 (Zamfara State): Armed bandits raided four villages simultaneously, orchestrating a mass abduction of at least 150 villagers.

December 23–25, 2023 (Plateau State Massacres): Coordinated attacks by armed groups over Christmas Eve and Christmas Day across multiple communities left over 160 to 200 people dead and displaced thousands.

2024
March 7, 2024 (Kuriga, Kaduna State): Armed terrorists on motorcycles stormed a school in Kuriga, executing a mass kidnapping of 287 school children and their teacher. (Many were later rescued in military operations).

April 2024 (Bokkos, Plateau State): Suspected herder-allied assailants killed 52 people and displaced nearly 2,000 during a brutal raid on six villages.

June 2024 (Guma LGA, Benue State): Assailants attacked Yelewata, a farming community, killing 59 people (though local records claimed the death toll exceeded 100).

August 19, 2024 (Katsina State): Armed attackers killed 32 people during an assault on worshippers at a mosque in Unguwan Mantau village, Malumfashi LGA.

November 2024 (Kebbi and Niger States): Coordinated raids by unidentified armed men led to a mass abduction of hundreds of schoolchildren over a three-day period (subsequently released in batches throughout December).

2025
January – June 2025 (Sokoto & Kebbi States): A heavily armed insurgent group known as Lakurawa (linked to Sahelian jihadist networks) expanded its footprint, killing at least 59 civilians in the first half of the year.

July 2025 (Zamfara State): Gunmen assaulted the Kairu community, killing six people and abducting more than 100 villagers.

August 3, 2025 (Zamfara State): In a swift, highly coordinated raid, bandits abducted 50 people in a single afternoon.

Late 2025 (Sokoto State): Escalated bandit raids forced the residents of more than 15 communities to entirely desert their villages, creating an internal displacement crisis.

2026 (Current Year)
January 3, 2026 (Kasuwan Daji, Niger/Kebbi Border): Bandits went on a rampage through local villages, burning down a police station before executing a brutal massacre. Attackers tied up and slaughtered 42 men, set fire to the local market, and abducted an unknown number of women and children.

February 3–4, 2026 (Kwara State Massacre): In one of the deadliest jihadist attacks of the decade outside the Northeast, Boko Haram elements crossed over and massacred over 160 to 200 people in Nuku and Woro villages (Kaiama LGA) near the Benin Republic border. Many victims were shot at close range or burned alive inside their homes; 38 others were abducted.

March 13, 2026 (Kanam, Plateau State): Gunmen ambushed a routine military patrol, triggering a fierce shootout that left 12 security personnel and 8 local vigilantes (20 total) dead.

Mid-March 2026 (Maiduguri, Borno State): A severe security breach occurred when simultaneous suicide bombings rocked Maiduguri, killing at least 23 people and wounding over 100. This was followed days later by a massive, coordinated assault by Islamist insurgents on a nearby military base, which troops repelled after heavy fighting.

He wasn’t talking to the enemy. He was speaking directly to the soldiers and officers themselves.

That’s what makes this different. He didn’t just confront the system... he reminded the men holding the gvns that they too are victims of the same system they are protecting.

The real problem is not the men in uniform. It’s the system that puts gvns in their hands and turns them against their own people.

To the men in uniform, there is still time to wake up. Because one day the uniform will be gone, the salary will stop, and you will return to your villages to face the same poverty, the same bandits, and the same insecurity you were used to shield others from.

That day, you will remember this moment and ask why you didn’t do the right thing while you had the chance.
