After Sarri’s arrival and Atalanta’s switch to a back four, Sead Kolašinac has lost his place, which is hardly a surprise.

At this stage of his career, especially after so many injuries, he simply doesn’t have the physical profile to consistently operate as a high-level full-back anymore. We have seen the same limitations with the NT as well. His best role now is clearly as the left-sided centre-back in a back three, where he can use his physicality and defensive experience without being exposed as much in wide areas.

That’s why a move to Juventus, who also predominantly play with a back four, wouldn’t make much sense if Kolašinac wants regular playing time. He would likely face the same problem there and could end up back on the bench.

For the NT, this could become a serious issue. We need to find a left-back capable of taking over Kolašinac’s starting role before the next EURO qualifying campaign begins. Unfortunately, right now, there is no obvious solution. The position could become one of the biggest problems for the national team in the coming matches.

@bvbosna @MrRightfc Yea I mean I think he deserves a u21 call up atleast but without proper first team experience it would be a big HOT TOPIC. Senegal called up a Bayern academy player to their World Cup squad who didn’t have 1st team experience so it’s definitely something that IS POSSIBLE.
