Odia won’t feed you. Learn Hindi if you want to earn.

This is the defeatist mindset some Odias actually laughed at me for challenging.

But who decided that Hindi has to be commercially valuable while Odia must remain just a language?

A language becomes economically powerful when its own people create demand for it.

Look at South Indian cinema. Regional languages were once largely confined to their own markets. Today, their films, music and entertainment industries cross state borders and generate enormous employment.

And now, an Odisha doctor is writing prescriptions in Odia.

That is how you create value by using your language, not apologising for it.

A ₹500 note has value because we recognise it as ₹500. If we dismiss it as a worthless piece of paper, its value means nothing. If we ourselves treat Odia like worthless paper, nobody else will magically give it value.

Stop asking, Will Odia feed us? Start asking. What are we doing to make Odia an economy?
