It really feels like the point of the war wasn’t to bring regime change in Iran but rather to disrupt the incredible economic transformation that was happening in the GCC.
People from so called first world countries were leaving Europe and Australia for Dubai, Qatar, Saudi, Oman
Unironically, the quickest fix for Saudi is to make peace with yemen and put a pipeline to the ocean and give yemens reconsutruction money in exchange. saudi is an enemy of itself.
@Ie_quint They have some intelligent operators working for them. It’s been interesting following their exploits. The Erdogan succession plan will be key. Fidan v Bayraktar needs to be solved.
As well as drones to Ukraine, Turkey has sold electronic warfare and radar systems to Poland, started building naval logistics ships for Portugal, and is due to deliver advanced jet trainers to Spain in the next few years.
Hosting this week’s Nato summit, Turkey has cemented its role as a bridge between East and West ⤵️

"Closer ties with Israel are more likely to become the UAE's greatest vulnerability than its winning hand. The Abraham Accords already deliver what Abu Dhabi actually wants: high-end defense technology, cyber tools, intelligence cooperation, counter-drone systems and access to Israel's innovation ecosystem. None of that requires a deeper political embrace of Benjamin Netanyahu's government. Going further offers diminishing returns and rising strategic costs.
The problem is that Israel has become a liability multiplier. Netanyahu's Israel has a reverse Midas touch—almost everything it handles in the region grows more toxic, more polarizing and harder to manage. For Abu Dhabi, that matters. Visible identification with Israel antagonizes Iran, deepens mistrust among Gulf Arab states, and irritates Saudi Arabia precisely when the UAE already faces isolation over its ‘Axis of Secessionists’ in the region.
There is also a deeper contradiction. Israeli help during the Iran war may have been operationally useful for the Emiratis, but it should be read through the logic of the arsonist arriving as the firefighter. Israel's escalation against Iran exposed the UAE to Iranian retaliation in the first place. Welcoming Israeli systems is one thing; treating Israel as a strategic shield is another. The Emirati advantage lies in cooperation that is controlled, discreet and transactional—not further political integration.
Israel can add to UAE statecraft as a supplier and intelligence partner. But it should not become the organizing principle of Emirati strategy. In other words, the UAE can use Israel as a tool but it must not be defined by it in grand strategic terms"

🇸🇦🇮🇱 Scoop: Saudi Arabia is advancing a plan to sideline Israel from the India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), known as the "Peace Railways" project, by rerouting the corridor through Syria instead of Israel, two sources tell @Jerusalem_Post

Cirro’s Russian roulette decision to pursue recognition from Israel will either make or break the secession project. Time will tell whether he weathers this internal stress test or succumbs to it.
⚡️LATEST: #Türkiye's intelligence chief, Ibrahim Kalin, and #Egypt's intelligence chief, Hassan Rashad, reviewed developments in #Somalia during high-level talks in #Ankara, highlighting the Horn of Africa nation's growing importance in regional diplomacy, according to reports.
The discussions coincided with political tensions over Somalia's 2026 elections, intensified negotiations over the electoral process, #Ankara's continued security engagement with #Mogadishu, and #Israel's publicly declared interest in establishing a presence in #Somaliland.
When will Africa/Somalia have leadership like this? Another remarkable development: Iraq's new leadership has launched a major anti-corruption crackdown, arresting 47 officials and members of parliament. So far, they have recovered more than $100 million.
#Awdal MP & FGS Minister for Public Works accompanied President Hassan Sheikh during a visit to Addis Ababa to meet Abiy.
He also accompanied him during a visit to Djibouti & IOG late last week.
This comes as the conflict in #Awdal continues & militia cross the makeshift border from the Somali region.
I reiterate, #Awdal does not need more bloodshed nor should an inch of the Awdal coast be given in exchange for a deal.
Support the Awdal State as a movement, but that doesn’t require utilising other countries or militia from elsewhere ⤵️✅
