Just talked to the surgeon and everything went smoothly on this end! Jess did great and is in recovery now. She should be awake and settled in her room in a few hours, at which point she will definitely respond individually to the 1,000+ people who shared their ❤️ with us.
@JDinRI In my defense, I said that in response to @JDinRI’s lament “I’ve been making popcorn this way for decades, how am I supposed to remember this new button sequence?”
@johnroderick book recommendation for you based on the future of tech conversation on the latest @RoderickOn: Exhalation by Ted Chiang, especially the story “The Truth of Fact the Truth of Feeling.”
@helvetica any idea what is happening here? This is eternal/arcade style, so all the placed numbers are correct. Recover board doesn't seem to do anything. 🤔
Hey, thoughtful and caring people out there: I get that the noise and vitriol and performative yelling we’re surrounded by makes you want to retreat into your shell. But that’s why we need your presence, your voice, your fortitude. Showing up beats showing off. Chin up!
What a treat to see one of my all-time favorite songs get the @strongsongs treatment: "Chicago" by Sufjan Stevens.
Thank you, @kirkhamilton, for articulating so well what I’ve been feeling for 15(!) years. https://t.co/osPmw87hof
@JDinRI @jpamental @MauriceMeilleur She is winning, but of course I don’t go through her dresser drawers asking “why do you have so many of these? Can we just donate them?”
@SamGHoward @JohnMarionjr@dadekian @JDinRI I am but an ineffectual Starbuck trying to interrupt Jess’s monomaniacal pursuit of the (Black and) White Cookie.
On the other hand, two years later they had a song called 10 in 2010 about how there would be 10 billion people on the planet in the year 2010, so nobody's perfect.
Just sayin’, Bad Religion had a song on 1994’s Stranger Than Fiction (an album featuring the single “Infected”) where the chorus was “Fend for yourself, and shun the handshake.”
