@prestonyonce i agree olivia is huge but remember billie did almost 100 million with her third album too. not to mention the average streams for hit me hard and soft were higher than girl so in loves. both are definitely queens of genz so i wouldn’t put one above the other!

I won't discredit your opinion, but I'll share my thoughts (small warning: I rambled a lot)

I can't skip past the two remarks you made. You firstly said HTE has better writing.
— I find that HMHAS digs deeper into Billie's story even as early as Skinny. A song that has a wordier structure than the rest of the album, similar to Getting Older.
- HMHAS is tighter and more polished in writing than HTE. It has everything her sophomore album offers from goofy (lunch and therefore I am), sassy (ladmv and lost cause, tfia too), personal drama (wildflower, idcmn) etc. It has better flow and better melodic writing too, more memorable and certainly more mature as well.
- HTE suffered from the massive debut pressure which shows in the length of the album and amount of individual songs (and the unnecessary amount of pre-releases/official singles). For the fans (like myself) there aren't any skips. But for someone who isn't as involved with her as the general public and some critics, it can come off as bloated or dull in some instances. HMHAS doesn't have that issue. It's only 10 tracks, all different from each other, with notable growth and improvement in every one of them.

— As for the production, I agree but not in the way you think.
- WWAFA has a very specific sound. Minimalistic, indie/bedroom pop, dark or even eerie in places, and heavy with electronic elements. It's excellent but in the low-budget way. They didn't have a lot of leeway financially so they made do with whatever equipment and plugins Finneas had afforded himself at the time.
- HMHAS took that sound and gave it more chatacter, depth and textures. You can't tell me you don't see the drastic difference between Skinny and I Love You. Two songs of similar sound. Skinny takes ILY's charm and makes it a cinematic masterpiece. Some people may prefer ILY because of the cleaner, minimalistic sound. I personally prefer thicker production styles.

Each of her albums proved better than its predecessor. Which I find impressive considering most artists drop one banger followed by a couple lukewarm successors that make critics question whether they know what they're doing or not..

Long story short, I personally find HMHAS to be a huge step forward from both HTE and WWAFAWDWG. I think most musicians and critics would agree with me.
