Reasons players don't stick at the DI level:
1. It's extremely competitive, all those other kids with hopes & dreams of playing DI ball are literally trying to take your spot.
2. Players commit then become afraid of failure. Embrace it, that's usually what made you good in the first place.
3. They don't get physical before they get to college, by the time you get there, it's too late to start.
4. "Extra-curriculars" become more important. (No, not the school kind).
5. The difficulty the first year destroys their confidence, believing in yourself through the adversity is 80% of the battle. EVERYONE struggles at some point.
6. Injuries & bad luck. Your number one ability is availability.
7. Players wait til college for "development". Those coaches have families & bills, if you can't help the team win or show you will very soon, they have to find someone else who can.
8. Players get offered based on tools & potential, but are unable to turn it into actual on-field production. No one cares about your 60 yd or exit velo unless it's producing runs or getting outs.
9. They underestimate how insane the college baseball season is on academics. It's the toughest season academically in college sports.
10. They find early success, then when the scouting reports adjust to them, they are unable to adapt. The game will never let you dominate it for very long. It's a game of adjustments.
Congratulations to @HunterMann47 for being selected No. 412 overall with the 8th selection of the 14th round by the Colorado @Rockies@TNTech_Baseball continues its proud tradition in the MLB Draft!

Not a fan of the transfer portal. I do understand that there are legit scenarios where making a change is needed and warranted, however, in my opinion it is getting out of hand. 20% of D1 players in the portal. Let that sink in. Feel like we are getting away from the life lessons that college athletics and baseball, in particular, teach.
A lot (NOT ALL) of P5 baseball has truly become the rent a player league. Very little culture building, very little development, very few kids that LOVE the school/program and bleed the school colors! It's NOT what college athletics were designed to be. The days of being at one place start to finish (freshman-senior) is now the minority.
#Guardians have promoted 21-year-old INF prospect Nate Furman to (High-A) Lake County. Furman hit .328 with a .486 OBP and a 159 wRC+ over 40 games at (Low-A) Lynchburg. He scored 43 runs, drew 35 walks and stole 27 bases as well with the Hillcats.
