Trinidad Chambliss was a 0 star coming out of high school.
He had to earn his way into college big time college football at division II Ferris State.
He had and has special makeup and incredible work ethic.
The coaches that knew him the best growing up were probably telling college coaches he was special but the college coaches were reliant on rankings to formulate their opinions.

Want to play college baseball…? better read this below carefully. (Not sure who to credit) but it’s spot on….
Every kid we recruit works hard and lifts weights.
Every kid takes 100’s reps.
Every kid says they care and want to win!
So that’s not what separates guys anymore. You better be doing all those things with intent or you have no shot!!!
So the difference in a standard “good HS player” and “GREAT HS player” is:
Who can stay consistent when it’s NOT going well.
Because everyone looks good:
- When they’re getting hits
- When they’re starting
- When things feel easy
But when it flips?
0–3
Sitting the bench
That’s when things speed up
That’s where most players change.
Body language drops
Energy dips
Confidence disappears
**** And that’s when coaches (recruiters) make decisions.
Not when things are going right…
but when they’re NOT.
So the real question:
When things AREN’T going your way…
what version of you shows up?
Player A is better than Player B as high school seniors.
Player A signs at a D1 school.
Player B signs at a juco.
Player A sits the bench as a D1 freshmen.
Player B is a juco starter for the fall and spring season.
Player B now signs at the same D1 school that player A is at and plays over him.
or
Player B signs at a D1 school and Player A circles back to juco to catch up on playing time.
This is more common than most realize.
Nothing replaces game experience.
Go where you have the highest perfect chance to play as a freshman.
Go where you are wanted and needed.
If I were a high school baseball player who wanted to play in college…
Here’s the FIRST thing I would do.
Talk to:
Your high school coach.
Your travel coach.
And a parent or adult you trust who really knows baseball.
Ask all three of them:
1. What level does my ability match up with RIGHT NOW?
2. What level do you think I can realistically get to?
3. What are the THREE biggest things I need to improve to get there?
That’s it.
Before you start emailing 100 coaches…
Before you start going to random showcases…
Before you start building a giant school list…
Figure out where you are.
Figure out where you can get to.
Figure out what you need to improve.
Now you have a starting point.
And now you can actually build a recruiting plan.
