The cathedral on the grounds of the historic Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built around 1050 and one of the holiest sites in Eastern Europe, is on fire tonight as Russia launches another mass missile and drone attack on Ukraineโs capital. Mayor Klitschko confirmed the blaze.
Iโm just going to say it,
all people who are rooting for these mediocre (at best!) power conference teams to make the field over mid-majors who had exceptional seasons,
unless that power conference team is Your Team, youโre not a real human being with real human emotions
March 10, 2011: The Kemba Walker Shot like you've never seen.
Fifteen years ago today I was courtside for the afternoon tip at MSG between UConn-Pitt and took this video from press row.
I did a talk about Washington's Crossing at Suffolk University Law School in Boston for History Camp 2024. One thing I haven't seen anyone talk about is the actual capture of the Hessians and what happened to Colonel Rall.
Casualties among Colonel Rallโs officers were high. And then Rall himself was mortally wounded; shot twice in the side. He was helped off his horse and carried into the church. Without their colonel, the Rall and Lossberg regiments lowered their colors and grounded their guns in surrender.
Within forty-five minutes, nine hundred and eighteen Hessians were killed, wounded, or taken prisoner. Five hundred escaped across Assunpink Creek. According to an account by Nathanael Greeneโs grandson; General Greene went with General Washington to visit the dying Colonel Rall.
The American and German soldiers intermingled, both sides curious about their opponentsโ dress and manner. Now, the prisoners and their captors were faced with the arduous journey from Trenton back across the Delaware River through snow and ice. Washington insisted that the Hessian prisoners were treated with respect. They were marched to Philadelphia. Some went on to Lancaster, Pennsylvania and others Virginia.
The most important AP Poll of the year is here.

Alabama
In the old days, the Chaos of the West was contained to one conference. Championship hopes were ended in inexplicable ways on a weekly basis. Containment has been breached. Penn State is not safe. Ole Miss is not safe. Chaos is upon us and will some day knock on your door.
