I create stuff for adult piano learners. I'm especially interested in finding effective, low-cost ways in which older adults can develop their musical skills.
After four years of disruption, delay, faffing about and a lot of swearing at the toaster, I'm delighted to announce my new book, How To Be A Better Musician, is finally available. It's digital-only for now: print edition coming in 2023. Find out more at https://t.co/IWCditmfkZ!
@ladychatterley Thanks to my mother-in-law we've already tested all the major brands of mince pie. I think we started in early August, or possibly it was late July.
@RichardBratby @Klassical_Kat Assuming it's a dial-a-yield jobbie then I'd imagine their risk assessment requires them to keep it on a low setting. That way if there are any mishaps it's only Wolverhampton that gets a bit zapped rather than the whole West Midlands.
Me: I've decided I need to stop listening to mid-20th century English choral music for the sake of my mental health
Therapist: Lo, the full, final sacrifice
@yousef_1892 @tfNUFC Sorry to hear that, Yousef โ it's not an easy thing to deal with. Hope you and the family are doing OK, and best wishes to your mum.
I'm really excited to be playing Brahms 1 next season with one of my favourite orchestras: @TheCBSO I'm happy to be filmed on phones by the audience except for the following bars when I really need to concentrate and could be distracted:
@PatreonSupport Evening โ how come my paid supporters are suddenly getting charged for ALL paid-members-only posts I make, even if I don't toggle the "charge members for this post" slider!?
@ladychatterley Look at it from the violists' point of view: getting their own clef is a tiny compensation for a lifetime of hell filling in the middle of the harmony on an instrument that sounds like an angry bee in a matchbox
@RichardBratby@PrestoMusicCom@eandtbooks Well done! I did the 1:72 Lanc at about the same time โ very fiddly, if I recall, so that competition victory was well-earned.
Everytime I restart this course by @billhilton I learn something new and unlearn the old mistakes, I must say this course is beautifully crafted โจ

@iamamro Yes me too, and I was up about the same time #bleary - btw are hashtags still cool? And do you remember when Twitter was full of witty people pretending to be famous writers and historical figures? Them were the days
Aristotle's Way was excellent, so I'll be getting this. Prof. Hall was the guest on one of the best ever episodes of The Art of Manliness, which is definitely worth a listen (whether you're a bloke or otherwise): https://t.co/GK3Ivds6RA
New book arrived! Ultimately it's a tribute to my late mum, Brenda Hall nee Henderson, who faced down her family's transgenerational Furies, by way of Greek tragedy, Aristotle, personal memoir, suicidology, the history of Ethics and lowland Scottish history. Audiobook soon
@ethanhein "Sit Down" by James โ not much known outside the UK, to be fair, but very well-known here. A straight I-I-IV-V loop throughout. https://t.co/Z5xpdW1omB
