Nazi Germany, Khmer Rouge Cambodia, Trump-era America: three young women's families are torn apart. Within their parallel stories, political repression threatens their families' freedom and lives. Their strength will not be enough against their government's hatred. #PitMad#A#HF
Three agent rejections in 24 hours! Another £15 added to my “Rejection Tip Jar” to spend on something totally frivolous at some point and to remind myself I’m working towards something 🤪
Yay! Thrilled with this! A recently rewritten first line for a book I’m currently querying, the boost I needed! Thank you to @cbcreative and @JonnyGeller
@ruskin147 After Ben and Alfie died we quickly got her two new friends who she loves so much. She’s a totally different dog to the one we got 8 years ago
@ruskin147 We got Buffy a Romanian rescue 8 years ago. She was v nervous especially around men, dogs, anything noisy. The turning point was when we adopted my granddad’s two old dogs after he died (a lab and a jack Russell). Buffy took to them instantly - turns out she’s happiest in a pack
Two and a half years since I accidentally started my second book (it was supposed to be a short story) I’m officially back in the querying trenches! Feeling many different feels - mostly proud (but also scared, emotional and impatient) #amquerying
Q for writers re querying - do you submit to your dream agent(s) first round or do you hold out and send to other agents first to see if you get any useful rejections for another round of edits?? Don’t want to waste my shot but also impatient to send to one particular agent
@juliebu72 For sure! Looking back at the last book I queried I wish I’d waited, the next version was so much better but I’d already queried and been rejected by my top agents by then
@KatieA_M My mum is currently hard at work reading my first 3 chapters for the second time, the first time was nearly a year ago. Hoping she comes back and signs it off!
