Lifelong learner and follower of Jesus; Husband and father; Attempting to serve the spiritual transformation among families at The River Church of the South Bay
So provocative in helping me think through and respond, both where I have participated in hurt and also where I can reform from within. https://t.co/pwzmIOVT4B
I just heard the sad news that Gordon Fee passed away. I only ever corresponded with him, I never met him in person, but he was known as a very gracious Christian man and a truly brilliant and erudite exegete. May he rest in Christ and rise in the new creation.
Christianity was and is wholly different. It insists that we are saved not by what we do, but by what God in Christ has done for us in history—in his incarnation, life, death, resurrection, and ascension. https://t.co/H7T4wpr3C5 via @timkellernyc and @gospelinlife
Parents, this year instead of “I support you if ...”, try “Even if … I support you.” Read on to learn about the link between support and growth for your high school senior. @FullerFYI https://t.co/yBqrttGoyA
I'm a Pastor. I lead this small-ish church in a small town on the edge of Flint. On a global scale the things we do are, perhaps... inconsequential.
But I realize, that as a Pastor - there are things I get to see that nobody else sees.
Let me give you a peek behind the curtain.
@AmandaHeldOpelt I will never get over losing my wife Cynthia to throat cancer March 2020. Never. I manage in the wilderness, not out of the wilderness. I am changed, I am changing, but she and this grief travel with me every day.
I believe that the key to the health, the maintenance, the extension and the renewal of the Church is not more evangelism, but more discipleship

Dr. Brian Alverson, director of the Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine at Hasbro Children's Hospital, said he has witnessed “a massive pandemic of mentally ill adolescents."https://t.co/bTypuC98rg
... teens have grown increasingly isolated, disengaged and susceptible to dangerous behavior nearly a year after schools switched largely to virtual instruction ... the pandemic has led to anxiety and depression.
During the pandemic, police in Washington, D.C., noticed a rise in carjackings, often committed by teens too young for their licenses. Officials suspect that young people growing increasingly isolated is a reason for the trend. https://t.co/4FC4srs8Tn
“I have never been discouraged, because all conditions that one finds himself is in the hands of God—God who made them to take care of me and to leave [me with] my life” -Lawan Andimi, a Ekklesiyar Yan'uwa a Nigeria pastor in, kidnapped by Boko Haram https://t.co/W7tcBH4kf5
One thing I have learned from church planting (and I am in the *south*) is that the church no longer has a moral authority in our culture. We must act like strangers to a new land, earning credibility, & until we assume that humble posture, our message will fall flat.
