I'm seeing some discourse on this app about Jalen Brunson taking too many shots and that's coming from people who either don't watch the games or have no memory or just gargle and spit basketballreference stats.

Against good teams -- who tend to be more motivated on defense with better individual defenders, who don't allow as many transition attempts and (surprise, surprise) tend to have a better record against the Knicks -- he's very often the only Knick who can create his own shot in the halfcourt. It's a dead end when others try and guess who has to bail them out? On top of that, the idea that the best player in the clutch for the last two years -- who was the best and most clutch player in series against the Cavs, Heat, Sixers, Pistons and Celtics -- should give up the ball in crunch time is very much a losing idea. Did he miss shots against the Pacers? Yes. Is he still the best option to win that game? Absolutely.

Opinion: Jalen Brunson had 35 points on 13-19 FGs in win vs TOR. He tied Richie Guerin for No. 3 in NYK history career 30+ point games (87). Guerin had 87 30+ point games in 518 games w/NYK. Brunson gets his in 232 games w/NYK. NYK is 145-87 w/Brunson on floor. Don't take him for granted. Obviously, no player is above criticism game by game. This includes Brunson. But the two-time All Star has raised the bar higher and higher for himself and his team since coming to New York. Will Brunson's Knicks teams ultimately win an NBA title? We'll find out in due time. But don't take for granted what your seeing from Brunson as he and the organization pursue that goal.
