Another 100mm+ rain day in Gurugram. July 7 this time, almost a year after last July 9. Similar waterlogging horror stories, but reached home from Okhla in 2 hrs vs 7 hrs last year. Key difference: rain started much earlier today not at peak evening commute. @navdeepdahiya55

What a terrible way to lose such sites with deep historical importance due to gross negligence. Sadly has become quite a norm with no remedies in sight

1 - 🏴 England are the first team ever to beat 🇲🇽 Mexico at the Estadio Azteca in the FIFA World Cup - they were unbeaten in 10 games there before today.
Altitude?
Absolutely ridiculous decision. Balogun’s tackle nearly broke the ankle of Mehramovich , was rightly red carded and suspended. Should have been given longer suspension post match by officials
If true, @FIFAcom@FIFAWorldCup have succumbed to US pressure
From @TheAthleticFC: Folarin Balogun will be available to play the USMNT’s round of 16 match against Belgium with his one-game red-card ban suspended. Multiple FIFA officials previously said that a team cannot appeal a red card or suspension. https://t.co/kBYEyot5tk
Dear Commissioner, MCG @PradeepIAS_HR ji,
This is a formal escalation regarding Nirvana Central Road, Sector 50, Gurugram.
Around 8 weeks ago, a perfectly serviceable road was stripped of its bituminous top layer. Residents and commuters have since endured weeks of severe dust pollution, followed by the onset of the monsoon, with potholes, an uneven surface and water accumulation creating entirely foreseeable road safety risks.
This follows an entire month of dust pollution during the median works in April. Residents have now been subjected to months of avoidable hardship due to poor planning and execution.
The question is simple: Why was a usable road stripped when there was no realistic plan to restore it before the monsoon? This was an MCG public works project executed at the ward level. Who is accountable for this planning failure? What message does this send about compliance with CAQM’s dust-control directions and the responsibility owed to citizens?
We request your immediate intervention to inspect the road, ensure temporary repairs to address the current hazards, prioritise recarpeting as soon as weather permits, and fix accountability for the planning failures that have compromised public health and road safety.
We had raised this issue with the Ward Councillor, @bhartiharsana9, on 13 June, but no effective action has followed.

The grass on Center Court at Wimbledon over the decades shows a change in the wear patterns. This transformation is not the result of new, more resilient turf or grounds keeping technologies, but due to changing racket technology.
In the era of wooden rackets, the heavy weight of the racket resulted in a "serve and volley" game. Given the impossibility of finishing a point from the back of the court, players resorted to volleying to win points at the net.
With the shift from wooden rackets to modern materials, the game moved towards powerful baseline play. Today's players are taller, hit hard from both sides, serve aggressively, and finish points predominantly from the back of the court.
If you’re under 30, don’t vote.
I only started properly watching football around 2004, so I want opinions from people who actually watched these lot week in, week out.

Similar pattern to how the Men's team perfomed in T20 WCs after IPL started in 2008
2009: Won vs BD and Ireland, lost to Eng, WI and SA. Knocked out at group stage
2010: Wins vs Afg and SA, lost to Aus, WI and SL. Knocked out at group stage
Germany and Netherlands two football powerhouses knocked out by Paraguay and Morocco respectively on Day 1 of the Round of 32! Brazil somehow managed to scrape through vs Japan. Insane.
The madness is only getting started.
In a stunning convergence of science and nature, our satellite-tagged turtles are helping decode an ancient oceanic map ! As the Southwest Monsoon sets in, several Olive Ridleys have moved towards the southern Bay of Bengal and the waters around Sri Lanka, to seasonal hotspots where warm Bay waters meet cooler Indian Ocean currents. This oceanic mixing fuels a burst of marine productivity, creating rich feeding grounds that turtles have navigated to for millions of years. Long before satellites, they knew exactly where to go. Today, Tamil Nadu Forest Department’s pioneering satellite-tagging project is helping us understand how these remarkable navigators read the ocean and connect distant marine ecosystems Credits- TN Turtle Telemetry Project in partnership with Dr @sureshwii , @wii_india@Aiwcrteofficial & @tnforestdept #TNForest
Rather than asking procedural questions on whether CoE was informed, shouldn't the question be if a private coach can help him increase his speed decently in a short stint, what exactly the CoE and other BCCI bowling coaches have been doing so far?
Isn't injury to quadricepss of promising allrounder Nitish Reddy intriguing because as per the report training under fast bowling coach Steffen Jones his run up and speed of delivery helped him touch 140 kmp /h +. Did he seek permission of the CoE before inviting Jones ?
"India needs the experience of Rohit-Virat for 2027" Same arguments were made for playing Dhoni in 2019 WC or Yuvraj for 2017 CT. We all saw how those ended.
There is a reason why no one has ever won a ODI WC at the age of 39 (Rohit will be 40+ and Kohli 39 in Oct/ Nov 2027)
Can't really understand why so many people want Rohit Sharma to fail. It is admirable how he has taken this challenge head on. He has led India to the Champions Trophy, scored against Australia, NZ and now his 79 against Afghanistan. A few low scores here and there can't judge his class. As a cricket fan we should wish that he carries the form to the 2027 World Cup. India needs the experience of rohit and also Virat Kohli.
Interestingly Ro-Ko skipped so many bilaterals in the run up to the 2023 WC. Had their places secure.
Now, they can't afford to give other youngsters any sniff. Jaiswal got 3 chances, hit 2 100s, Ruturaj hit a 100, Ishan came in and has been sensational. Then there is Sanju.
Why can't Ro-Ko skip bilaterals. Early in their careers they benefitted from their seniors Sachin, Sehwag, Dravid skipping bilaterals. Now these two can't do the same? Is it because they fear youngsters outperforming them like Yashasvi did by hitting 2 100s in last 3 ODIs?
Got to feel for Yashasvi. Scored a century yesterday, found his name missing today.
But that said, it’s understandable that he has to wait for his turn. Because as long as VK & Ro are fit and available, they’re still among the first names on this list in the 50-over format.
There should be no doubt in anyone’s mind on this topic until proven otherwise.
Imagine Sachin and Dravid insisting on playing every T20 and ODI in 2007-09. Rohit and Virat would hardly have got a chance
You have had 2015, 2019 and 2023 WC - three golden chances to win a ODI WC occupying the top 3 spots. You could not win. Time to let youngsters have a go
Rohit and Virat who got chances in Indian team because their seniors Sachin, Dravid in 2008-09 and later Sehwag at 35-36 yrs of age were not blocking their path.
Now both of them, at the age of 38 and 37, deny the same opportunity to current generation youngsters. What a shame
🚨 Yashasvi Jaiswal, who replaced an injured Virat Kohli for AFG ODIs and slammed a ton in the last game in Chennai, has not made the cut for the ODIs in England
Students? They both are criminals and should be charged for attempt to murder. Look at the helpless guy they attacked bleeding profusely.
What have been the BNS sections slapped on these goons?
