Autistic trans minister in the PCUSA. Poet. Protestant/Catholic/agnostic mishmash. 🌈 Focuses: trans & disability theologies; uprooting Christian antisemitism ✨
Must read: Mahmoud Khalil speaks out for the first time since his arrest by the Trump administration in an exclusive letter, dictated over the phone to his family, from ICE detention in Louisiana.
I wanted to focus on Saint Joseph this Christmas. Him sitting off to the side full of worry and doubt in the nativity icon always drew me in.
For those who get depressed during the holiday season, please know that your melancholy was experienced even by those closest to Christ.
@RevDaniel Anyway I’m not articulating any of this well so I hope it’s not obnoxious if I also link a vid on Zechariah & disability that my friend @LauraSommer221B & I once made digging deeper into the implications of Zechariah’s temporary nonspeaking status! https://t.co/phpcRX6qSo
@RevDaniel I agree with all your points And Also find this story interesting to look at through a disability lens. Advent is this time of upending: the virgin becomes pregnant; impoverished women are the ones centered; AND a high priest experiences disability!
@RevDaniel So for the rest of Z’s months of service that year, he exemplifies that a disabled person can be a servant of God. I think this adds to your argument that God explodes the pedestals on which men with religious power stand by also interrogating who is “worthy” of such roles anyway
@RevDaniel Like Jacob’s dislocated hip, the sign of God’s blessing that Zechariah receives is disability—something the world conceives of as brokenness (& a priest in particular had to be bodily “perfect”—tho if I remember right muteness isn’t of the disqualifiers listed in Torah)
One thing there is no shortage of in Gaza: devotion. Commitment to each other, to life, to protecting and supporting the most vulnerable. Despite the US-Israeli siege and the daily horrors of genocide, people continue to risk their lives, use their resources, to support others.
This infographic from is a few months ago but it helps make the point clear. Not only is Israel committing genocide, which is absolutely its worst offense, but it’s also devastating our planet — and the US is enabling it
@holyqueerit Ahh exciting! I just decided recently that I wanna go back to school for a PhD or DMin so same hat (sorta)!
May Spirit fill you with the energy, curiosity, and wisdom you need for your studies, and may this next step in your journey bear good fruit for you & your communities
God of the oppressed, make us restless & unable to feel peace until Palestine is free. Stir up these stagnant hearts; break them open so they may feel grief & rage over what we’ve all been made complicit in.
God of justice, enfold all who protest evil in your protection & love.
Liberals, please understand that even if YOU think “the genocide is evil BUT we have to focus on Trump not winning” or whatever, many of your fellows are completely indifferent to the murders of 1000s upon 1000s.
The LEAST you can do is insist on talking about 🇵🇸 with other libs
A clear example of the gradual transformation of a Reuters headline from actual news to an Israeli propaganda:
- Facts are lost (school & 100 are gone)
- Doubt casted (“Hamas-run”)
- Israel’s unsubstantiated statement incorporated (“hit militants”)
