@RevDaniel I agree with all your points And Also find this story interesting to look at through a disability lens. Advent is this time of upending: the virgin becomes pregnant; impoverished women are the ones centered; AND a high priest experiences disability!

@RevDaniel So for the rest of Z’s months of service that year, he exemplifies that a disabled person can be a servant of God. I think this adds to your argument that God explodes the pedestals on which men with religious power stand by also interrogating who is “worthy” of such roles anyway

@RevDaniel Like Jacob’s dislocated hip, the sign of God’s blessing that Zechariah receives is disability—something the world conceives of as brokenness (& a priest in particular had to be bodily “perfect”—tho if I remember right muteness isn’t of the disqualifiers listed in Torah)
