Addis Ababa’s Riverside Development is far more than a riverbank beautification project. From the Entoto to Peacock corridor to the Entoto–Kebena stretch, this is a large-scale urban transformation that extends up to 50 meters beyond the rivers, creating green corridors, public gathering spaces, walkable areas, recreation zones, and commercial spaces that are reshaping the city itself.
What makes the project especially significant is its broader economic and social impact. Beyond improving the appearance and function of the riversides, it has created jobs for many people across construction, engineering, landscaping, logistics, and related sectors, while also generating opportunities for local contractors, suppliers, and businesses. The fact that so much of the work is being designed and delivered locally highlights the growing capacity of Ethiopian expertise in urban development and infrastructure.
The sustainability aspect is equally important. Once dumping grounds for toxic waste and flood hazards affecting communities along the riverbanks, these areas are now being transformed into greener, healthier, and more liveable urban spaces. At the same time, the integration of commercial and public spaces demonstrates how environmental restoration and economic growth can work together rather than compete with one another.
This is a long-term investment in the future of Addis Ababa as a greener, more connected, economically vibrant, and people-centered city.

Millions have voted. Democracy is in action.
As Ethiopia’s 7th General Election enters its closing hours, Head of the African Union Election Observation Mission, Uhuru Kenyatta, commends the peaceful and organized conduct of the voting process across the country.🇪🇹
The people of Ethiopia are an extraordinary and remarkable people. Other than the Creator, who can truly know and assess our people in their entirety? Through this year’s election, Ethiopians have once again shown the world that they are a people with a rich culture, deep patriotism, and the ability to safeguard the common good.
On this historic day:
* Citizens who were not intimidated by the cold and darkness of the night,
* Who were not deterred by the midday sun or sudden rain,
* Whom weddings, funerals, childbirth, and other social obligations did not prevent from participating,
* Who were not wearied by long lines,
* Whose physical disabilities did not stop them from casting their vote,
* Those whose illness and old age did not prevent from witnessing the hope of their country,
* Who were not exhausted by carrying their infant children; the future inheritors of the nation,
* And above all, whom the shouting and threats of enemies could not intimidate or stop;
The perseverance you demonstrated amid many challenges and hardships, against all odds, was a contribution made for democracy and for the very survival of the nation. For this, you deserve heartfelt gratitude.
It is a privilege to serve such a people. Therefore, may those who have been elected honor the trust placed in them and serve this people, with integrity and sincerity! A people who have paid a great price for the democratic system. May you be worthy of that responsibility.
The registration of 54 million voters heralds the dawn of a new historic chapter in Ethiopia's democratic journey.
Today’s turnout is a profound testament to our people's resolve to choose their leaders through the ballot box alone. With the various parties and independent candidates, we are witnessing the maturing of our institutions toward a stable, modern, and pluralistic future. I Wish All the Best!
I cast my vote today and in doing so, joined millions of my fellow citizens in writing a new chapter for #Ethiopia's democracy. Our democracy may be young, but the mandate of our people is resolute, irreversible and entirely our own. The true measure of this day stands not in the headlines of the foreign media critics I read, but in the long queues of our people I saw with my naked-eye.
As Ethiopia approaches its historic general election,z noise from enemies, sham opposition groups, and their allies grows louder in an attempt 2 spread doubt & confusion, but despite z negativity, the democratic process will move forward peacefully & gracefully to the finish line.
