My article “A media-materialist method for interpreting generative AI images” is now published online in Convergence. This piece represents the foundation for my genAI work over the last 2-3 years. Four layers – data, model, interface, prompt. https://t.co/r4lenj1LAB
Oh hello. I know I’ve been quiet, but it’s been a head down bum up kind of start to the year. Having said that, I’ve managed to set up a remotely accessible AI suite, vibe coded a family album browser, and install and trial a tiny AI agent on a ESP32 board. So a few blogs soon!
@jameesy Nice to see another tag fiend! I didn’t know you could nest them now— this was the only tough pill to swallow for me when switching from Bear.
I was interviewed about embracing the broken aspects of AI rather than fixing them. Discussed: class experiments, Slopocene futures, glitched assistants, corrupting and hallucinating with AI for critical thinking. #AIliteracy#GenAI https://t.co/z7IWAjo4IR
'Confronting the Climate Crisis'—edited by @binnsy and Rebecca Najdowski—examines how activism, media, and creative practices shape our understanding of the climate crisis. https://t.co/k2vBRI439r
💠 New blog post: On Clearframe—the anti-productivity productivity method I accidentally on-purpose co-hallucinated/created with generative AI https://t.co/XvXTefrtC1
When do we stop hiding in our offices, pointing at and whispering about generative AI tools, and start just including them in the larger category of ‘technology’?

⛓️💥 New blog post: How I broke Claude. Messing around with sophisticated language models; prompting nonrepresentational outputs; creative technical engagements with AI to generate alternative practices and narratives. https://t.co/Cmr1evQ9fI

🧵 I’ll probably write about this in longer form at some stage, BUT… I finished two film projects this week. One, a micro-film made entirely from AI media, was an experiment and sample work for my students.
I’ve tried a bunch of creative outlets over the past few years, but working with AV media again—working with what is still called, accurately or not, for better or worse—film, caused me to remember how much I love it.
✍️ New blog post: On Procreate and AI -- Companies ignore technological advancement at their peril. But should they opt in or out? https://t.co/naxfzsbnTd
Screen studies folks, hope to see you this week at this @SSAAANZ regional hub at @RMIT to celebrate the launch of Simon Troon's new book through an eco-cinema discussion panel featuring stellar scholars like @belinda_smaill, @melaniejashe & @binnsy. 👇👇 https://t.co/75AT4hPCcW
