@JoakimH14@ashamz_apparels@culture_coffin First sentence on Wikipedia: "The FIFA World Cup is an international association football competition among the senior *men's* national teams...", and the disambiguation: "This article is about the *men's* association football tournament."
@luuvliina@ReluckySoyou@NoTopicsToday@trubakiwi Hardware companies have limited resources to produce. They find that they make more money by working with ai companies than by making consumer products. So they direct their focus away from consumer hardware, which results in a shortage for us. Even valve is not immune to this
@dearreader_yail@TsukiiSparda If the music was integral to the game, I would tell the deaf person that due to no fault of their own they missed out on the full intended experience.
@dearreader_yail@TsukiiSparda And this is before considering games that are heavy on gameplay with little to no story elements. Watching someone play a puzzle game like baba is you and playing it yourself is entirely different
@dearreader_yail@TsukiiSparda Dynamic music, non linear storytelling, level design affecting player decisions, etc. The other components of a game are often closely intertwined with and shaped by gameplay
@ItzAntz_7@M0BILESUITZER0 Outer wilds is a puzzle exploration game where progression is tied to your knowledge. You can go anywhere and even beat the game in 20 minutes as long as you, the player, know how to do it. Watching a playthrough of this game is absolutely an inferior experience to playing it
Or even something like factorio. No one is sitting down and watching multiple hours of a factorio playthrough cause it's boring as fuck to watch. But when you play it yourself you get sucked in by the gameplay loop and play for hours without noticing
I want all these people to play Outer Wilds to the end and then tell me with a straight face that watching a playthrough would've provided an equally fulfilling experience
@SevyEngling@nom2609@naranciagaming But for something like puzzle games I don't think watching playthroughs provides anything close to a proper experience. E.g. baba is you for a "pure" puzzle game, or outer wilds for a game with story. You miss out on so much by watching someone solve these games
@SevyEngling@nom2609@naranciagaming For some games I agree. I got into ace attorney as a kid by watching full playthroughs on YouTube, and the most gameplay I went through was the HD trilogy demo. The experience of playing is different (and better than watching), but I still loved the world of aa back then
@AlexTheGoated10@Dexteriityy I know the guy who made this tweet said he was specifically referring to black people, but it really is just applicable to gamers in general. Most of my friend group is comprised of gun and ball gamers who immediately dismiss the idea of trying a story game, to my disappointment
@sirsamgrace@insanenredacted Sebastian and blaise debeste were the biggest losses in the official aai2 localization. They really expected us to take a guy named excelsius winner seriously
@Productions_Z2H@fortnitebussy1 Redefining powerscaling such that powerscaling principles do not just apply to all of fiction, but to reality itself is what they like to call a "conceptual manipulation feat". Well played powerscalers! (powerscaler meaning every human who has ever told a story)
