Yes.. Dreams come True😇 I have no words to describe this feeling. Proud to say that I am one among the 8 billion people on this earth to watch 2022 Fifa Worldcup final @Doha Lusail stadium
#VamosArgentina#ArgentinaVsFrance🇦🇷🇫🇷
#FIFAWorldCupFinal#FIFAWorldCup
1 - From the 76th minute onwards in Argentina's 3-2 comeback win over Egypt, Lionel Messi had the most touches (27) and was the only player to have multiple shots (2), chances created (2), dribbles (2) and touches in the opposition box (5).
Catalyst.
2 - The last two players to score, complete 5+ dribbles, and create 5+ open play chances in a @FIFAWorldCup match:
🇦🇷 Lionel Messi v Egypt (2026)
🇦🇷 Diego Maradona v Belgium (1986)
Catalysts.
Messi started out as the best player on his team. And the best player on every other team too. At 10 and 11 years old, coaches would remove the centre-forwards because they got in his way. Teams were shaped around his strengths. His teammates gave him the ball because he helped them win. They became his friends because they admired him.
Then he grew up. And along the way he met players who did not know him. Some had their own stories, their own fears and, in some cases, oversized egos.
He wasn’t always respected. Teams didn’t always play for him. He didn’t always receive the ball in the places where he could change everything.
Until Scaloni arrived.
Once again, a coach who understands that when you have Messi, the challenge is not to fit him into an idea, but to build the idea around him.
Once again, the best player on his team. Once again, the best player among all teams. Nine goals in his last twelve World Cup matches.
And his teammates, just as they did when they were 10 years old, keep looking for him. Because with him nearby, winning becomes easier, and because they admire him for it, and for taking their profession to places nobody had imagined.
Some stories return to the beginning.
Like songs that, after all the verses, find their way back to the chorus.
All the records broken by Lionel Messi today:
Most FIFA World Cup finals goals by a football (soccer) player - 18
Most FIFA World Cup matches played in by an individual - 28
Most matches won by a player at the football (soccer) FIFA World Cup - 18
Most minutes played in the football (soccer) FIFA World Cup - 2,489
We are witnessing history.
Back in high school, anytime there was a Messi vs Ronaldo debate and we tried to explain why Messi was the greatest player of all time, the first thing Ronaldo fans would ask was, “Does he have any international trophies?”
Messi had none at the time, so we were out there defending Olympic gold medals and the U-20 World Cup like they were the World Cup itself, just to survive the arguments. 😭
We endured the insults, the trolling, the endless mockery and the “international trophy” agenda for years. We never gave up.
Today Messi has won every major international trophy available. Copa América, Finalissima, World Cup, you name it. Now suddenly the excuse is, “FIFA rigged it for Messi.”
Come on, that’s nonsense.
Messi suffered, failed, got criticized, lost finals, retired and came back before reaching where he is today.
The funny thing is Messi fans haven’t even trolled Ronaldo fans the way Ronaldo fans trolled us back then. This is just light banter and suddenly people are drawing the line. 😂
After all those years of hearing “international trophies?”, allow us to enjoy this small moment in peace.
Hand on heart, I dont feel sad at all. Im so fucking proud of this group. Won us a PL after 22 years and took us to a UCL final. Kings who will be remembered forever. 99% of Europe would want our season.
Thank you Mikel and Thank you Arsenal.
I recognise my football club again.
🚨 Arsenal are Premier League CHAMPIONS!
Mikel Arteta's process is COMPLETE! 🏆
Below, I revisit the ENTIRE process. From December 2019 to May 2026.
From the “Arteta Out” movement to worldwide criticism over many years, we have proved the doubters WRONG!! 💪
MEGA-THREAD! 🚨❤️
Arsenal are Premier League champions and they thoroughly deserve to be. They’ve waited so long for this, they’ve worked so hard for this, withstood so much frustration and so many jibes. They’ve put up with 22 years of title hurt, going close, drifting back, fighting back, building the squad, building the team, building the momentum. Believing in the process, believing in Mikel Arteta. And now, to the Gunners, the glory.
So much praise is due Arteta, for gradually shaping this team, for turning them into champions. The football his team plays is not the most breath-taking Arsenal have ever produced, certainly not in the creative class of Arsene Wenger’s champions. Arsenal need to become more expansive. Arteta's artists, one day. It’s not been a great season in the league for quality but it’s certainly been good for the league to have different champions for a change.
For Arsenal, this was about getting over the line and, helped by Nicolas Jover’s honours degree in the set-piece arts from the college of cunning, they did. They also got away with plenty of grappling in getting their grip on the title trophy. Manchester City, a more attractive side, pushed them close but Arsenal showed their resilience. One-nil to the mindset.
And glory for Declan Rice, the best player in the Premier League, the player who defined the destiny of the title with his driving runs, leadership without needing the armband, shielding the back-four, covering back, and also starting attacks from the back. Rice received this reporter's vote for FWA Footballer of the Year, and last night's immense display against Burnley showed why. This title win showed why. The game is about glory.
Glory, too, for Arsenal’s strong spine of David Raya, Gabriel, Rice and Viktor Gyokeres. Glory for Hale End, producing so much talent, not least the wonderful Bukayo Saka. And credit to the Arsenal board who backed Arteta when so many questioned him. Backed him with words of support. Backed him with players, and with time and patience.
And, finally, joy to the fans. When Arteta called on them to greet the coach, to raise the roof, to carry the team home, they delivered. A party 22 years in the making has now broken out, Arsenal fans taking to the streets around the Emirates to celebrate. They are worthy champions. #AFC
Premier League Champions.
22 years of hurt and pain.
5 times the bridesmaid.
Tonight, finally, THE BRIDE.
Congrats, chaps. So proud of you all for winning the toughest League in the world.
Last season, Arsenal got many questionable red cards that other teams got away with. When Arsenal fans complained, everyone told them to stop being victims and they should cry harder. That we had no excuse and to stop using bad refereeing as an excuse because it happens to everyone.
As recent as City’s last game against Brentford, they escaped a possible penalty and a red card. This happened multiple times during the season.
Every single time a referee decision went against Arsenal or in favour of the people we are competing against they tell Arsenal fans to suck it up and stop crying.
Suddenly we are supposed to feel guilty about yesterday, because a foul that was a foul was rightly called.
Has Arsenal benefitted from this inconsistent refereeing this season? Yes, and so has everyone else.
We all call Madrid VARdrid and call Barca UEFAlona, and we call out City and their 115 charges. Prime Manchester United had “Fergie Time” working in their favours.
But you know what people never called these teams despite how many questionable decisions went and still go in their favours?
“Bottlers.”
“Failures.”
“Cursed.”
“No ambition.”
Me too, would love to be labeled a cheat that wins rather than the horrible things Arsenal fans get called. So you can all cry from now till forever. If Arsenal cheats to win the league I’m happy with that, and I’ll take it. Let people accuse us of paying referees.
PSG eliminated Bayern under questionable circumstances but it has not stopped everyone from questioning their pedigree or supporting them over Arsenal.
On that note, ladies, gentlemen, and rivals: Cry harder.
