Spent my first few years in crypto trying to convince friends and family that crypto was the play. Never again.

People who listen and make bank (very few fall into this category), 99% of the time you'll never hear from them, not even a thank you. Or they'll drag their feet (most fall into this category), jump in late and get burned. Then you're the one to blame for them losing money. Unfortunately there's just zero upside to it.

though you think it happened overnight and can thus happen for any other asset easily, the ETH ETF didn't happen out of nowhere

ETH got CME futures in Feb 2021. besides BTC, no other crypto asset has them. nor was ETH ever formally designated as as security by the SEC which made that process likely easier than it will be for other assets

then futures ETFs launched in October 2023, only after years of run-time on the futures

my base case is 2-3 years pass before any other crypto ETFs. do i think that's "fair"? no, i don't think the SEC should decide what's allowed an ETF and what isn't based on BS criteria. BUT FOR NOW, THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT THEY DO

ETFs aren't the only reason to own a crypto-asset, but don't delude yourselves on this issue

in the meantime, if you want, feel free to fight the ETH fund flows from the ETF, its new legitimacy as the premier programmable blockchain, and the wave of institutions who will soon be building on it

Re: “SOL ETF soon”

Seeing a lot of misinformed opinions about how this is next. It’s not. BTC and ETH will remain in a class of their own.

SEC relied on a ~32 month sample period for correlation analysis between spot and CME futures. Given SOL CME futures do not even exist yet, my base case is SOL spot ETF will take at least 3 years.

(Not a forecast on SOLETH, which has far more factors than just ETFs—just reality)
