This is the EXTREMELY civil discussion that the riot at Tennessee State (HBCU) started with.
In this video you watch the mob grow, begin shouting, destroying our stuff, possessing weapons, blocking our way out, and screaming racist epithets.
All because of this civil convo.
@hasanthehun@hasanthehun He dislikes affirmative action. This is a topic that can be debated surely. He's using "hyperbolic" language to be provacative. You've done the same. Debate his views and try to bring people together instead of demonize.
@mehdirhasan Look at my comments on that post. I believe he had valid concerns, but the part people are angry with is the hyperbolic rhetoric he used. I’m striving to understand each side, but it’s hard because each side is disingenuous. It’s ruining our discourse.
@mehdirhasan Or Instead of: “Islam is the sword the left is using to slit America’s throat.”
He said: “I think some on the left are aligning with Islamist groups in ways I see as dangerous for American values.”
@mehdirhasan (Continued)
Imagine instead of: “Joe Biden is a bumbling dementia…..”
He said: “I believe President Biden is unfit for office due to his policies and cognitive decline. He should be held accountable through legal and constitutional means.”
@mehdirhasan He is guilty of using hyperbolic rhetoric. As far as context I believe the points can be valid alone and argued for (not saying I agree, but I believe it is valid to have the opinions). He definitely could have phrased it differently.
The assassination of Charlie Kirk is bringing out some of the best in humanity and it’s also exposing some of the worst. The unification, love, support, and outcry on his behalf throughout the world is heartwarming. The number of people supporting Tyler Robinson’s appalling behavior has opened my eyes to a side of extremism with a moral superiority complex that has also shaken my belief in people in general. I hope they are held accountable for their disgusting rhetoric.
@mehdirhasan@robbysoave Yes and both sides are guilty of bad rhetoric. This is one proof of many. Why don’t we acknowledge the hate both sides are spreading, instead we point to each other like children in trouble. Ridiculous.
@roll20app My friends and I used the app all the time for the last sheet. It’s great! I like it better than DnD Beyond app. I can’t wait for the new sheet to be added.
