@schmidtkloiber @euMERLINproject Wow, I always felt that "ecosystem services" sounded quite cynical, but try using "ecosystem disservice" in a sentence. "We planned a road but the ecosystem did us the disservice of putting trees there." Not what you intended, I'm sure! 😀

@grahamwhopkins @JeffOllerton Exactly! I guess pollination biologists can be glad that at least most attention for insects in the media is about pollinators... well, mostly bees really 😕

@BioInFocus My hunch is that if bee diversity dropped by only 25% in recent years, they're incredibly well-studied. I'd expect much steeper drops in many other insect groups. Would be interesting to see how the media spins a big 'decline' in cockroach or mosquito diversity... 😊
