The Dalhousie Black, Indigenous and People of Colour Caucus is a voice for BIPOC students. We aim to organize around advocacy, support, programming & education.
@NSPIRG I was wondering if anyone from BIPOCUS would be interested in facilitating one of the conversations? We'll have a small honorarium for whoever is interested.
I can also send you the list of topics we will try and be covering as suggested by some student feedback."
Calling all Dalhousie BIPOC students! Join the planning committee for BIPOCUS Presents: Dreaming in Colour taking place at the DSU O-Week. This year we want you and your brilliant ideas :) If you are interested, please email [email protected] and join the team!
As the incoming DSU President, I stand in solidarity with International students and look forward to working with @DalhousieU Admin, Faculty and Stoods to ensure no one is priced out of an education ✊🏾
Thanks @dagshfx and @daldisa for uniting students!

We hope our university delivers on tangible actions in order to address both individual and systemic racism as well as the concerns of other marginalized folks on our campuses. #DalDoBetter#NotOurPres#MacKinnonNoMore
Today, Dalhousie Students engaged in a silent action to address Interim President MacKinnon’s blatant support of anti-Black and anti-Indigenous racism along with other forms of oppressive rhetoric. #DalDoBetter#NotOurPres#MacKinnonNoMore
Students, faculty, and community united our efforts, vision, and concerns for our university, and took action into our own hands today. We hope that this demonstration strikes a meaningful dialogue with our university and beyond. #DalDoBetter#NotOurPres#MackinnonNoMore
@IBJIYONGI@MalindaSmith Thank you for sharing your experience with Dal. It is unfortunate but not unusual as seen with the historical track record uncovered with this scholarly panel. We hope to hold the university accountable to their new found support for Black folks and we will be demanding better.
Scholarly Panel Draft Recommendations included:
- An apology from Dalhousie on its relationship to slavery and anti-black racism.
- Funding for Black students.
- Teach about slavery & anti-blackness in primary to grade 12 and in post-secondary institution.
