@JulieBipolar Personally, I'm NOT ashamed to have #bipolardisorder . Although, some of my family are ashamed I have a diagnosed mental illness. Very few of them are privy to my unstable moments. Though, just being the "grey hair" of the family bothers them. I've even lost family over it!
@alexdaviespbts Like marital arts, meditation is a discipline. Those of us w/ #anxiety & #depression find it difficult to accomplish that kind of mental discipline/control when we are out of sorts. Kudos to those who can achieve it! Personally, I find it more frustrating trying..like yoga! Lol
@alexdaviespbts I'm with you @alexdaviespbts , meditation is to each his own. I've learned "grounding techniques." There are a plethora to try. They can be used in any setting, convienant if you're in public and need to refocus/collect yourself. An internet search will help you find examples.
@alexdaviespbts Thank you! It's no worries, I'm a seasoned veteran w/depression at this point! Lol! It's always been my goal to maintain management of my symptoms, even if the med side effects out weigh the actual symptom(s). It's a process. If you ever want 2 chat, feel free to DM me anytime!
@alexdaviespbts Thanks for the tips! I've dealt w/depression since I was 16. I had been on & off Prozac for years until I was diagnosed w/bipolar 1. Sertraline is the only new med for depression I've taken. I hope your side effects subside soon. I know they can be quite uncomfortable.
@alexdaviespbts I'm currently not taking anything for #depression. Thankfully, after a year of struggle it has subsided. But I deal with it a few times a yr. I also have S.A.D. which kicks in during winter. So I'll be back on meds soon. Not sure what meds, any suggestions?
@alexdaviespbts I was recently on it for 6mos. Started @25mg up to 150mg. Not sure it ever worked for me. Had no side effects. Usually I'm given #Prozac for my depression, but it usually causes me to go into #mania , but it works everytime! So my new pdoc gave me Sertraline. I'm off it now.
