like this isn't the right explanation. the money machine wants more money; the vc already put the money in, now they need to get the money out. it's not a competition thing this is just what comes with taking that funding https://t.co/95HWSDvYFf
@TheJakeChristie Often when a company refuses to sell out, they get undercut by big businesses copying their business model/technology, and end up getting driven out of business instead
this is how the tech industry works unfortunately. you need money to build a good product, VCs provide the money in exchange for a stake in the company. VCs want a return on their investment, though (money isn't free) and the easiest option is to sell! on top of that, (1/x)
has a good website ever considered just making a modest amount of money in perpetuity and staying good instead of cashing out and getting ruined by the highest bidder?
equity is a large part of employee compensation packages and founders frequently want to cash out as well. working at a startup, your goal is really just to take the company to exit (acquisition or ipo) and get money to make up for the difference in salary
@edosianorchid@guysitsmeasdf i don't really consume eggs, cheese, or milk often so i don't think it'd be too hard for me; the hardest part is getting rid of dairy-containing products like cookies. i'm going to try to cut dairy out entirely though
@edosianorchid@guysitsmeasdf i'll check it out! i'm very new to being veg but it's very nice to see that there are so many good options. people really act like there's nothing, i thought it was going to be harder than it actually is
@ljmontello not to mention the majority of people with ptsd aren't even combat vets! sexual abuse, assault, dv, etc., all problems that women at large face, are some of the most common causes of ptsd! but ask any one of these americans about resources for women and they go silent.
@JBotato@8dlotus i don't actually think you're evil, the majority of polisci majors i've met have been kinda insufferable though. i think that's an admirable goal and the soft sciences are generally less bad than hard stem. fwiw i work in tech soo
