Brambling have been thin on the ground in Buxton this winter, so it was nice to catch one in @OrridgeSteve’s garden this morning. A total of 12 species ringed including 5 Siskin, Chiffchaff and Lesser Redpoll.

Productive morning locally with @OrridgeSteve. A stunning Jack Snipe found with the thermal camera first thing, then 14 Shelduck at Waterswallows (first either of us has seen in Buxton area). Also Stonechat, Golden Plover, Com Snipe. #derbyshirebirds

Ringing weekend at Gibraltar Point Bird Obs with @SorbyBreckRG. Highlights Belgian control Blackcap, female Sparrowhawk and a thrush bonanza on Sunday with 87 Redwing, 7 Song Thrush, Fieldfare and Ring Ouzel caught. Bonus Buff-breasted Sand and Lesser Yellowlegs at Frampton.
Amazing couple of days ringing in Wiltshire with @mattthesparrow and team. Great to ring in such different habitats to Derbyshire, and learn some new methods including dazzling. Topped off by finding 2 Stone Curlew chicks whilst catching Skylark!
